I'm talking about handguns or hunting rifles. Not assault rifles.

If you buy you will need ID if you don't buy then they could care less. If you are asking this rediculous question: for all of our safety please don't buy a gun.

Not if you're just walking in. You'll need to show ID to purchase a firearm at a gun shop. Semi-automatic rifles that the media usually call "assault rifles" (not assault rifles at all as assault rifles are select-fire by definition) are treated no differently than any other rifle under Ohio law.

That sounds right...you can walk into a gun shop and look at stuff with out showing ID...but if you want to purchase a gun then they need a Drivers License, so they can do a back ground check. If you can purchase a gun with out ID..then the ATFE needs to be informed.

Why would you need a permit to walk into a store? There is no need for a licence to walk onto a car lot.

Not every state requires a citizen to raise their hands like child to ask permission to purchase a firearm.

If they sell you a handgun without ID they are breaking federal law sugar.
