Black Christians - How do accept a religion that was once forced upon you by oppresive slave traders??

Ive always wondered why blacks in America are so feverently Christian, when the religion was used to enslave them, and was later used to justify their enslavement...

Recently, it dawned on me that The Church has probably been the only solid social institution that hasnt turned its back on Blacks throughout the history of the United States - it has been there for them through the periods of slavery, segregation, Jim Crow laws and racism that is still prevalent.

IS THIS WHY many blacks in America today are so religious?

religion didn't enslave us, it was an excuse to. according to Harriet Tubman, christian slave owners were nicer, and a lot of Christians read the Bible in its entirety and new that slavery was a bad thing.

considering not all Black Christians are from America, it isn't a matter of the church not turning on us. in many places, the church was "whites only", so black people learned from observation and insight. when they found the Truth, it set them free. there is such thing as a free slave...

Because it's more than a religion. We know the reality of a personal relationship with Christ, so did our ancestors including those who were enslaved. They knew Christ and the fact that hypocrites existed didn't change who they knew him to be. Similarly, there are more chinese christians than there are in christians of any other country (or if not yet, there will be soon), despite the fact that christianity was associated with british rule by the boxers, and communists. And by the way, it was the church that initiated the civil rights movement, the black marchers in selma etc. were predominiately bible believing christians.

because i know that even though those people that enslaved my ancestors were hypocrites, God still exist. if it were a religion just made up by slave owners or whites then the laws in the Bible would pertain only to them. but nowhere in the Bible does it say that whites are better than blacks so i know for sure that it wasn't something that they just made up.
