It's not BANNED in other countries, it's simply not recognized as a religion. Many other countries are willing to admit it's more of a business than a religion and it's DEFINITELY a cult in practice.

From what I can tell, some places ban it because it's a hazard to health. Makes sense, since Scientology will not allow it's members to get much needed mental health care from trained therapists. (I'm not saying all Scientologists are nuts, but if you look at xenu.net, there are a lot of stories about people killing others or committing suicide because the "church" won't let them get pysch drugs.)

Don't know...Scientologists have individually been charged with crimes but the institution is still protected. France banned head scarves too. IS that right?

Scientology is not ban in every other country. There are churches of Scientology in almost every country in the planet. Even in India and Nepal. There is a very big Scientology church in Japan. Most schoolar recognise Scientology as a religion.
