I just started a new part time job making 6.50 an hour and just got my weekly paycheck. I made a total of $150 and with taxes I only got 70 bucks??!!! Is this normal?

I just found out that the 1 tax (EMS) that was 52 bucks will only be once a year. Some employers only charge a small amount each paycheck, but others charge the entire $52 in 1 paycheck to get it out of the way.

No, that's NOT right at all! Even if you lived in CA, with one of the highest income taxes in the country, you should have received nearly $128 in your check. And that would be if you filed 0 on your Form W-4 at work which results in the MOST tax being taken out.

Check with your employer or have a look at your pay stub and post the numbers here. That isn't right at all! Something is definitely wrong here.

Addendum: Leave it to PA to come up with something like that! Glad I live in MO!

OK, I guess you're in PA. Sounds like you got your answer with the EMT $52.

They are talking about taking that out in pieces, rather than all at once - would make a lot more sense.
