There are a small number of people who have developed natural immunity to HIV. They are being intensely studied. If we are able to determine how their immune system was able to develop antibodies to HIV it may lead to the development of a vaccine.

no matter how terrible the plague, how horrible the disease there is always a very small percentage of the population that is immune. this is also true for hiv.

there is a strand of hiv called hiv2 (which is not exactly the same, but close) thats much less agressive, and mutates less often to which people can build up resistance

There are people who are apparently "immune" to HIV in that they can carry the virus without ever displaying any signs of carrying it. They are still able to pass it on to others so this can be an awful thing for people that don't get checked, if they continue to pass it on while never showing any signs of having it. As for the "killing it off", I don't think that there are any known cases (at least that I'm aware of) of people whose bodies can just fight off infection.

I saw an interview with Jim J Bullock who says he is HIV positive, and has been for nearly 20 years. He doesnt' take any drugs and has not been affected by the disease.

There have been a few people that have HIV but are not affected by it and they don't develop AIDS. Scientists have been testing their blood to see why this is, but they haven't found out anything huge yet, but they are still trying.

I'm sure there are people who are resistant to it, since not all people who have been sexually exposed to it actually develop the disease.
