If you're hiring someone, you need them to show proof of citizenship, such as a Social Security card.

If not, you can't tell.

They don't have their legal status stamped on their foreheads, and it's none of your business.

You can't. That's part of the problem. They blend in really easy. We're not a police state so just asking for their papers isn't possible, either, and shouldn't be. IF they don't have a social security card or a drivers license, that's a pretty good indicator, but a lot of illegals obtain these fraudulently and or steal the identity of legal Americans. Bottom line is this, once they are discovered to be illegal they should be deported and their native country should lock them up for about fifteen years.

Unfortunately you can't. It would be nice if you could ask anyone who looked Mexican for papers, but, that would lead to harassment and profiling of many legitimate, legal citizens with brown skin who deserve to be here and be respected as humans with rights. This would lead to people who have done nothing wrong and are productive honorable members of our great country being harrassed and treated in an unacceptable fashion.
The only solution I see is to make the employers be responsible for weeding out and turning in the illegals. Oh and shoot anyone sneaking across the border, those ones are easy to spot as illegals.

You can't. An illegal alien could speak perfect english. It is only the ignorant who think they can tell an illegal from a legal.

Then again if they go up to you, have bug eyes and touch your nose with a lit finger and say nanu nanu, they might be an illegal alien.

;)

(1) Pointed ears.

(2) Antennae sprouting from his heads.

(3) You hear him say "nanoo, nanoo."

(4) He rides a flying bicycle.

(5) You find a giant empty pod in his basement.

(6) He has a weird name like R2D2 or AC1BD.

There are 10th-generation Americans living in the hill country who have no ID, no birth certificate, no paperwork of any kind. What would prevent them from being deported? White skin?

Look at how they dress and act. If they dress in ragged clothes and look around confused, they might be a red...........uh, I mean an illegal. Majority of illegal immigrants are from the country side of their country. they mostly look the same too.

This is going to sound messed up,but here goes.Just go to the closest Home Depot,Sam's Club or BJ's Wholesale Club and yell out "La Migra," If you see some people become scared and start running, that's how you can tell they're illegal. You can't just tell by looking at someone.

what most of you anti-illegals here are suggesting to do if you want to know is kind of "illegal." do you understand what "illegal" means?

if you think you can tell by looking at them, you are probably a racist.
