Instead of cooking the rice in water boil it in chicken broth. The broth will flavor the rice and not add too many calories.

Hi Kiki'
I get to be # 20. All the other answers sound great if your in the mood for savory rice. Fix your rice with water according to the directions that come with it. While it is cooking put some raisins in the water - it will turn a light shade of brown. Leave the rice as directed to soak up the raisin water. Remove from the pot, sprinkle with Sweeta and cinnamon after putting on some milk and eat for breakfast. This is so very good.

I'm sure you used spices, but have you tried:
"turmeric"? Its an antioxidant and anti-cancer element.
Turmeric will make your rice somewhat yellow in appearance.
Use 1/2 teaspoon for a cup of rice.
Use 2 cups of water.
Season it with sea salt and put some frozen peas into the almost cooked rice.
When done you'll have a very tasty and nutritious side dish.

Unfortunately , that probably means adding butter or something else that won't help you shed the pounds. I like making plain white rice or Ramen and adding frozen mixed veggies to it. It's easy enough and they cook while the water is cooking your rice. You could also add chicken bits and get in the spice drawer for something other than salt to throw in. Basil? Oregano?

Saute the uncooked rice in butter, salt, pepper, and cumin (either powder or seeds). Then cook the rice with water (2:1 ratio water to rice).

There's many different things you can add, based on what you are having it with... If it's with chicken or pork, try adding some butter, garlic anc a little lemon juice (you can also add some cheddar cheese). If it's with Mexican, try adding a little water and taco seasoning or mix it with corn, beans and cilantro. If it's with Chinese or Japanese, try stir-frying it with an egg, soy sauce, cut up veggies - like snow peas, string beans, carrots, etc.

I love rice. I usually try to add some butter to it and a lil salt. Also you can cook bratwurst and chop it up and put it in there. It's so good I do it for my husband and he loves it. Also chicken is good too.

Make sure you salt the water before you boil it. Also, instead of water you can substitute chicken broth. That's what I do when I'm making plain rice and it works great.

Cook it in beef, chicken, or vegetable broth.

Also there is a seasoning called Aromat that I buy in a green can that is just awesome on rice. I buy it in a specialty store so unfortunately I don't know where else to buy it.
