I don't know what to call it,I wish it wouldn't have happened. Nascar will deal with it and then we go from there.

At this point NASCAR has lost me as a fan. Their poster boys can try, intentionally cheating or not, to alter the car to make it more aerodynamically sound and then get caught breaking the rules and they get just a minor slap on the wrist. Jr.'s team just uses a wrong bracket, something that has very little if any affect on the car at all, and he's basically booted out of the chase. I think Tony Stewart was on track, NASCAR is like the WWE. The only difference I see is that NASCAR still has people believing they are a legitimate operation.

They were technically caught cheating. I personally think that if all the Hendrick teams had made the same change, you might have an argument for mistakes. However, the fact that only 2 teams tried to pull this off, and Knaus has been caught cheating before, seems to point to a pattern of cheating in Hendricks. I hope they get their act together.

They worked in a gray area. They know that when they do this, there's a chance NASCAR won't like their work. They took that chance, and now they get to deal with the aftermath.
It's not cheating, but it's not an honest mistake.

So is it going to be a 100 point 100,000 fine. Not that either matter they are in the chase and are going to get the money back from the end of the year bonuses that NASCAR gives it's top 10 (or 12)

Honest mistake, Same as with Jr. Probably be penalized like Jr. And when it happens, instead of shutting up, ,all those that think they get special treatment will say about time, they have been cheating all along, lol.

It was a mistake. In the report they said that they thought they could work on a particular part, and NASCAR let them know, without doubt by failing them, that they couldn't. They weren't cheating and weren't trying to cheat. I'm sure, however, you will have people on here who feel otherwise.
KD is right.

Knaus was reported as saying that he was trying to work in a "grey area". Personally, I don't think that is cheating. Letarte hasn't issued a statement on it, as far as I know. I heard on the PRN broadcast that the penalty was likely to be severe because they "planned" to do this. I don't know how you can be considered a cheater if there is no clear cut rule to be broken.

Well, what they did is not in print as what not to do, a grey area they were smart enough to try, and now NASCAR will put it in print, but as for the Wing inncodent with JR. that is front page print of what not to mess with.. Sure the penalty will be the same, kind of hard not to be, but also a good fight if you wanted to challenge the print in the rules, as to what it will be after this weekend.
Actually I wouldn't be surprised to see that area as a modifacation to their cot, and it took Hendrick Motorsports to do it for them.

I certainly think they were trying to gain an advantage... Not sure why, they have been kickin butt with the COT all year anyway and we all know how good Gordon has been on road courses... I don't know, maybe they have been doing this all along with the COT and just now got caught... You know what they say, its only cheating if you get caught!
