According to a recent study, .2% of the prison population is atheist or agnostic. That means that 99.8% of the prison population believes in some sort of God. Now obviously, they do not follow the rules of whatever God they believe in, however, they still believe in God. If you believe in God, whether or not you follow your God's rules is irrelevant because belief in God automatically disqualifies you from being an atheist. So where do people get the idea that we are more prone to committing acts of crime??? My guess is that like everything else, the Christians have been told by their church that we are more prone to commit crimes and have ignored the evidence that proves otherwise.

Ali, that still does not change the validity of my statement. You can call people of other religions immoral, but atheists still seem to be crime free. Don't attack atheists for crimes that muslims or jews commited.

Alas, Alas you have my head spinning. You
have made a faux pas. You said "they believe
in some sort of God." Then you mention
Christians. BIG difference. Muslims must
believe in a different God than mine. Muslims
say that they must kill all Christians and Jews.
The God of Christians and Jews does not say
any thing like that. I will not go into any kind
of long spiel about this, but I will say that some
"SORT" of god could mean anything to a person in jail or prison. Then again you say
"whatever kind of god they believe in." There
are all kinds of gods out there. I won't ask
which one that you believe in.

I heard the same thing. Strange really if you ask me as to how people label Atheists as immoral or lack morals when those who commit crimes are religious. Just look at the Mafia as an example. Guido rubs out Paulie on Saturday while wearing a gold cross on a necklace and then Guido goes to church on Sunday.

Well I don't hate atheists or even dislike them, but that evidence proves nothing because it doesn't mean that the rest of the 98% are Christians. Yes everybody has a god. Some people have satan as a god, others have money, some think tree's moons and stars are gods. But just because they believe in a god doesn't mean that there referring to the one true God of the bible when they say that they believe in a god.

I heavily discount the claims of many of those who have "found God" in prison. Look at Paris Hilton, for crying out loud. Does ANYONE really believe that was an honest conversion? Prisoners know if they claim that, they can get sympathy from the ones who actually believe they converted.

So what's the question here?
Are you surprised that Christians believe something about crime despite evidence? Not much of a problem for them in other areas, is it?

Christians just like to say that to scare other Christians and make us evil. You know morals and ethics, come straight from the bible, how could we possibly control ourselves.
We all became atheists just, so we could go out and, murder, rob, and other acts of wanted destruction with no consequence.

Well, consider that the Biblical God repeatedly COMMANDS his followers to kidnap, hurt, rape, forcibly abort, and kill other people throughout the Bible. Maybe the Christian inmates WERE obeying their God?

To have faith in devil, you ought to have faith in God. Granted that God does extra evil interior the Bible than devil does with the help of a extensive margin. in spite of each and every thing, What does devil do it particularly is evil? insurrection against God? it particularly is barely evil if God is the best guy, yet God created loss of life and hell and devil himself and God killed each and every guy woman and new child in the international and cursed them with sin and loss of life. (confident, Genesis says "cursed") while all devil did develop into tell Eve to devour a touch bit fruit that ought to furnish her expertise. yet none of that's actual, Devilboy. strengthen up a touch.

That statistic shows that per capita, atheists are FAR less likely to:
1. commit a crime
2. get caught
I'm honestly not sure which is the case, but number 1 is my guess.
