Your saying you've had a hernia for four years? are you sure it's a hernia? for this long and, the doctor knows it. For one thing, it most surly isn't bloating your stomach.
I think I would head to the doctor and have that hernia taken care of. I had one and I couldn't get in right away, it was bad and, I had several jobs to finish. I rolled up a gym sock and put it under my belt and continued working, for a week, when I took it out at the doctors office I passed out from the pain.
A hernia is nothing to let go, take care of it.
To fg: a Hernia is dangerous, it can pinch the intestinal wall and cause more problems then you would consider here and, in fact your sounds real bad to do that, what do you think is going on in there?

I have a hernia that is just below my sternum bone. If I do situps, this big bump (about 3 inches high) pops out at the spot in question. During the years that I have had it, my belly button has converted from an "innie" to a pronounced "outie". My doctor has known about it for years and tells me to get it repaired if it becomes a bother or painful. He says that it is a common condition but not dangerous. It has caused the top part of my stomach to stick out a bit. If I were a young guy who women were interested in, I might have had it repaired already, but I am in my mid- 50's so I am well past the point that would attract the ladies. If you are still "in the game" then get it repaired.
Please note that I am not a medical professional so you should not take advice from me. I am only relating my own experience. Before making any decisions, you should have serious consultations with qualified medical personnel. Good Luck

I had two hernias in my lower groin and had to have surgery. If you have a hernia, it can swell up the entire area around it. After your surgery, a lot of it will go down. but you'll need to to stay away from heavy lifting for about a month or so, then you you start working out and lose the rest

It isn't from the hernia. It maybe because, you are limited in what you can do because you have a hernia.
Anyway it is best to get it taken care of, then you can gradually start working out. Also hernias and strangulate the bowels so get it taken care of .

A very bad bulging hernia can give the appearance of a larger stomach but it would probably be definetely noticable as a bulge and not your whole stomach. Also, if it bulging that bad, you need to get in and have it taken care of immediately. Go see your doctor.
