I wonder if that person who said people who smoke pot should not have children has ever consummed alcohol, a drug that can make a person violent and is much worse that pot in many ways. I've never heard of a person beating up his kids as a result of taking pot. He's probably be more likely to eat sweet foods and giggle.

I guess our founding fathers, who grew the cannabis plant, as well as most educated and enlightened people who grew up in the 60s, as well as many humanitarians and intellectuals, should not have children either. Assuming that person is a Republican, I guess our wonderful prez shouldn't have had kids either.

I smoked pot a few times in college with many peope who went on to be good and successful people. If my child is a good person who treats others well, lives his life with integrity and decency, and tries to stay healthy, I can't imagine what would make me protest his/her occasional smoking of marijuana. Imagine what he or she could be into! I think people who think taking a mild, not physically addictive drug from time to time is some horrible thing need a serious reality check.

If a mature, responsible adult who holds down a job, provides for their family and is a great parent chooses to smoke pot, or have a few drinks once in a while and it's not affecting their lives negatively and their children don't know they are doing this, I don't see the harm, if they don't share with their children. A mature responsible adult who is doing this will not share this information with their children. it's none of their business. The parent has every right to still lecture their kids about not smoking pot or drinking or drugging. A mature, responsible adult can handle smoking pot responsibly, just like going out for a drink after work with people from the office or having a glass of wine with dinner. Just because dad has a glass of wine doesn't mean it's okay for the kids to drink. It's not a double standard; we're talking adult behavior versus kids.Maturity is the key and kids are not mature enough to handle the responsibility of drinking and using marijuana in a manner that doesn't get them into trouble at some point. A mature, responsible adult is educated about the effects of marijuana and knows the limits; a child does not.

I've had several pot-smoking friends in my past and they all don't want their kids (under 14yrs) to smoke it, but seems like when they get into highchool they let their kids use it and sometimes get their kids to buy it.

They are usually pretty cool about it - as long as they aren't getting blasted out of their minds all the time ;););)

Remember - anything in excess is bad for you...
