Out of towners should get gift bags. It should be something easy to pack so a bulky basket would not be a good idea. It is just things they would need during their stay but probably forgot. Snacks, drinks, tourist information on the area, perhaps some every day drugs like Pepto and asprin, and a thank you note for coming.

As far as actual wedding favors the rule of thumb is that if you cant eat it it's probbaly a waste of money and will be left behind or thrown in the trash. Sad but true. Charitable donations are an exception to this.

I went to a wedding recently that had very cute favors.

First, the bride had collected wedding pictures or a picture from a special event for those who were not married, and asked for the date of the wedding or event. Then she scanned the pictures, switched the format to black and white, and added the date of the event. The pictures were framed at our tables where we were sitting. It would be alot of work, but everyone enjoyed looking at everyone else's wedding photos. Especially, the older guests.

They also had sugar cookies from a local bakery with their engagement picture screened on the icing.

I really like the website www.myjeanm.com too for favor ideas :)

Good Luck!

As a guest I appreciate favors I can eat then and there and not have to worry about taking with me. Candies or cookies in coordination with wedding colors/themes are nice, and often hold you over until the food starts.

Welcome baskets can have maps of the area and local places of interest, water bottles or champagne, snacks, spa gifts to relax after a long trip are nice.

How much are you willing to spend?

I'm giving Godiva mini chocolate boxes. They have the 2 or 4 count truffle boxes. They have diferent ribbons to match your colors and they are $3.50 a piece plus delivery and tax.

A single red rose for each woman. Or, you can make a chocolate heart wrapped in foil to place at each placesetting.
