i cant say specifically for running beacause i always sucked. but plyometrics really do help in basketball and swimming.

in swimming we used to do 3 types of sets. one was to sprint a distance double the race. so if i had to sprint a 100 yd in swimming i would practice sprinting 200 yds * around 20 times a day with a minimum of 5-10 seconds rest and a maximum of 30 seconds rest.

Another is to do the set on an interval 10-20% slower than your best. so if you do a 100 in 13 seconds try to consitently make them on 15 seconds with the same amount of rest.

Another set is to keep your heart rate jacked. Sprint 100 yds then 70% 300 yds. repeat 10-20 times. I notice that we do this set everyday and the first two we alternate.

So day 1 we do set 3 and set 1. day 2 we do set 3 and sum lighter work. day 3 we do set 3 and set 2. then you repeat. sunday we only did set 3 and focused on distance but practice was 4 hrs long.

oh c'mon you need plymetrics to improve your speed. that is what the 100m is all about;explosive power and jumping exercises help that. Try weights then, using an explosive technique...where (whatever exercise you are doing) when you are in the flexing part, go slowly and when you are contracted pull up with more strength and speed(but not to the point where you'll be pulling a muscle or straining something)

To better your 100 m times, you need to develop 2 things:

1. upper body strength
2. fast-twitch muscles

To develop these 2 things:

1. Get to the gym and lift some iron, strengthen your core
2. Practice faster turnover

Good Luck

My favorite way of improving my running times is to stop posting the same question 4 times a day on Answers, get my lazy *** out of the chair, and get outside and run.

Seriously, man.
