She does not know who her kindergarten teacher was nor what she looked like, infact her memories do not start until she was in third grade. What would cause this?

She is 27 and has no memory problems as of late. She just has never been able to remember her early years.

I have the same problem.

I was sexually abused at a very young age. I remember very little until about the age of 7-1/2.

I didn't know this until I was in therapy for several years and I started having nightmares.

No, my therapist never mentioned it so they are real -- not the power of suggestion.

I believe she must have gone through a traumatic experience. I seriously have the same problem and my psychologist said that because of my drunken mum and dad, and their ugly divorce, that I have deliberately blocked it out. But it's not just the bad things, i've actually blocked out the good things as well. Maybe get her to see a psychologist too, it can only do her good.

maybe something happened when she was younger and she blocked out those years. i remember how i looked in kindergarten down from the pig tails i wore and this pink jumpsuit with a white hello kitty on the front. maybe she need to go talk with a specialist to get this resolved. . .thats if she wants to

To remember something, it must cause you an intense emotion. Seems her childhood was completely unremarkable...nothing impressive enough to remember.

PD An emotion that is unbearably intense will cause the event to be deleted from the mind.
