Seriously, if you're going to spread the word, why not phone calls, unsolicited e-mails, personal letters, advertising, radio and television shows, door-to-door is just so ... obsolete.

Jehovah's Witnesses do use telephones and personal letters.

Unsolicited e-mails, not likely and with good reason. What do you do with e-mail from an unknown sender? I delete them without fail.

In the past we did use radio.

I can't agree with you here. There is something to be said about talking with someone face to face.

Door-to-door witnessing is obsolete? How would you know? Has your church ever done it? For those who are infirm and can't engage in the house-to-house work, many of them witness over the phone or write letters. Some visit prisons and hospitals and other place where they can get permission to talk to others. Door-to-door preaching is just one of the ways we spread our message to the public.

Thru the years we have found the door to door to be the most effect way of helping people become more than couch or rice Christians.

The growth of Jehovah's people testify to the success of our methods.

I am a regular pioneer and i use letters, door to door, i phone witness, talk to people on the computer. I utilize every means possible to talk to others about the truth. Lately at our conventions and assemblies, the friends have been admonished to utilize the expanded ministry. I have recieved good results.

Personally, I'd rather talk to JWs face to face (which I have done) It's more personal. I like how they do this. Apart from the mormons (who only came once) they are the only religion who's ever bothered to come & talk to me about the bible. (I say 'about the bible' because once the vicar at the end of my road visited my house but it was only to collect money)
If someone phoned me I wouldn't pay as much attention as I like to see a person's face, expressions etc. I can tell a person's feelings & conviction face to face too.
They know the bible & I respect that.
