u know when u play the guitar and u hold the notes or the chords, how do u know which string u have to play? Like when i hold the note and now i have to play the string part of it how do u know which strings to play. do u play the whole strings or the one that u have ur note on? if u get what i'm talking about please give me at least one clue!

In most chord diagrams it will show which strings are not to be played by depicting them with an X. Strings that are open, and meant to be played, are depicted by an O. An example of C major, using this strategy, is as follows:

332O1O

Many chords are played by picking only the strings you press down, such as the F major in the first fret. Here are two ways to play the F major in the first fret:

XX3211 or 133211

It depents. Most of the time the information you're getting on how to play the chord will tell you what strings to strum.

Not all chords use all 6 strings. They can but it's not a requirement. And of course if you're absolutely not sure which ones to play...play the notes you're holding...Those ARE the chord tones. You can't go wrong.

If you read music you would know which strings to play or not to play, tabs the same thing so apparently you don't know either. So I'd advise you to get some books or take some lessons, today you can get them from books with Cds in the back, Cd's, DVDs, or even the computer. Why not try one from the Internet. If your willing, try this one.

Im sorry... I cant help you with this Q beacouse i have no idea either I am stuck on the guitar to mine recently broke so i just quit
