For as long as I can remember, I have gotten an itchy mouth and throat (typical signs of an allergic reaction) after eating various foods such as: raw carrots (cooked ones are fine), celery, sometimes bananas and sometimes apples and the weird one, peanuts. I have to think that it isnt an allergic reaction because I would think that the peanuts would be more serious. Has this ever been heard of before?

It is called oral allergy syndrome. I used to have it to almost all raw fruits and vegetables. It is linked with pollen allergies. Does watermelon or cantelope bother you? After I had desensitation shots for five years, my allergy to raw fruits and vegetables went away.

An allergic reaction will happen within 24 hours, but with food most likely just a few hours. There is specific sunblock for babies skin. A rash on the forehead is most likely sunburn, possibly a 2nd degree burn to his forehead from the sun reflecting on the pool's water. Next time put the pool in the shade, and don't leave him in the sun for that long. He may be really sensitive to the sun. He could have had a reaction to something in the water (chlorine), but an allergic reaction would affect more than just the forehead.

the peanuts and bananas are a big clue to allergies.
Allergies develop over time, and your body just gets tired of fighting it off so it develops an aggressive attack.
Celery is rare but not unheard of and apples are rare too. You may have a citrus allergy along with the peanut one.
As an above poster mentioned, see a homeopathic or a really skilled allergy doctor.

Mild allergic reactions can become anaphylactic allergic reactions without warning; anaphylaxis can be fatal. Do not continue to expose yourself to foods that cause you to have an itchy throat or mouth. See your physician and ask for an Epi-Pen. Epi-Pens are to be used only for anaphylaxis; you may treat a mild allergic reaction with oral over-the-counter remedies such as "Benadryl". And don't eat any more peanuts! I have driven students to the hospital because they have "breathed in peanut butter odor" and went into anaphylaxis.

It is an allergic reaction. Don't downplay it just because your reaction isn't severe. Stop eating these things as you will likely become more reactive over time. Get allergy testing done if you want to know your specific allergies and if there's anything you can do about it.

I have many food allergies, this sounds like allergy to me. Go to a naturopath and get muscle tested for allergies, you will know for sure then. My MD says that naturopaths are better at dealing with allergy situations than an MD, it was good hearing that he realized this.
