you might wanna try the following.
1. Inspect the belts...if they look worn out..replace them
2. IF 1 Does not work...try adjusting the tensioner
3. Lube the compressor
4. IF none of the above works....replace the compressor

Since you do not give the information about what kind of vehicle this is, I am going to assume ypou have a serpentine belt (since you mention the tensioner).Unless the tensioner is not working correctly (as in the spring being broken, & tightened up without the normal tensioner's spring tension loaded), the tension should be right. So you should not be getting the squealing because of a loose belt. But if you DO have a V-belt, and not a serpentine belt, the belt tension COULD be a little loose, causing a squeal each time the air conditioner is turned on, or even at times when the air conditioner is not turned on, like when it is raining, & water gets splashed up onto the belt while driving.
Without knowing more about the vehicle, it would appear it MAY be the air conditioning, but you should be able to bring it in to get an estimate someplace for what work would need to be done at most places that fix cars. Then you would know upfront what you are dealing with, if you have not been able to figure it out beyond a doubt. Just be sure you ask if there will be any charge beforehand to get an estimate if you do not have the recommended work done at that time. That way you can find out for sure if need be, without being charged unnecessarily. I hope this helps you.

If the tensioner is bad it will make noise whenever it feels like. If the compressor has had it you will hear that when you turn the AC on. Sounds like you have a worn out compressor to me. Good luck.

u need to make sure that belt is super tight around the compressor if its slipping thats why you hear that screeching sound
