The six week body makeover diet is awesome. I only used it for 4 weeks though, lol, but i managed to lose 15 lbs. I had to quit cause I found out I had thyroid cancer. The plan is a little pricey but totally woth it and u get to eat every 2 to 3 hours, yum! Weight watches works too!

Don't go on a diet, change your eating and health habits.

Eat the appropriate amount of calories per day. Follow the recommendations of the food pyramid for how much of each type of food you should have per day.
Drink water.
Exercise...even if it's just a 30 minute walk 3 times a week.

If you go on a fad diet, you'll lose weight, but as soon as you return to your "normal" eating habits you'll gain it right back.

find daily calorie intake calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours - it optimizes your metabolism)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have protein (lean meat, legumes etc) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min (ideally 45min because the first 20-30min body burns carbs and only then starts burning fat), light weight training (more muscle=faster metabolism)
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, pasta etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried, oily.
ofcourse you can spoil yourself once in a while with a little treat:)

The six mini-meals (rather than three large meals) one--it has worked for myself, my son, my neighbor, and others we know.

Example:

1. Cheerios, 1% milk, fruit
2. Carrot & celery sticks, juice
3. Tuna on lettuce & tomato, with just lemon squirted on it all
4. Non-fat yogurt, green tea
5. Broiled chicken breast & two veggies (one green leafy)
6. 1% milk, slice of whole-grain toast

Remember not to eat anything FRIED or greasy
No fast-food (unless it's the baked potato or salad)
Don't drink SODA (even diet gives you the 'beer-belly')
Stick to recommended portion sizes of meats, pasta, rice, bread
Don't eat empty-calorie meats (hot dogs, sausage, pepperoni, etc.)

all diets suck, and they all work. So take your pick, but you have to stay on it for the rest of your life.
