My puppy goes potty way to much if i leave food out. But im afraid i might be starving her sometimes because once i saw her eating a leaf. I can't take her out on walks because shes to young and scared.

Another thing that wierds me out about my puppy is that sometimes while im busy working, when she poops...she plays with her poop. sometimes she eats it. Is this normal!!!????!!?

I'd say as far as the biting you feet and socks you're out of luck. You'll just have to either try to avoid it, or live with it for a little while because puppies love that game.

As far as feeding. When I had pups I was a big fan of free feeding (just leaving the food out all the time) and regardless of your feeding schedule the dog should ALWAYS have access to clean fresh water. I like giving the dog the freedom to eat when they're hungry, especially as a pup she'll need to eat more often cause she's growing like a weed. I say free feed and then after she eats take her out to the bathroom cause she'll need to go...

Good luck!

A 6 week old puppy should be having at least 4 meals a day of a good quality puppy food soaked in warm water for half an hour before feeding it to the pup.

Unfortunately, they do poop and wee a lot as they do not have any con trol of their bowels or bladders at this age. It is up to you now to start potty training her. Take her out as soon as she wakes up, after she has eaten her meal and after play time. Take her to a spot where you want her to use to relieve herself and wait until she performs. When she does tell her what a good girl she is and give her lots of praise.

Puppies have to be taken outside about every half an hour when you first start to train them.

You could try crating her at night because puppies very seldom soil their own beds and first thing in the morning take her straight outside to go potty. She will soon get the message about where you want her to go but don't expect miracles. Puppies cannot hold on and you will have lots of accidents. Don't be cross with her, just be patient and keep on training her. It usually takes about six months before you can be sure she is completely housetrained..

As for biting your socks and feet, this is what puppies do. Just make sure she has plenty of toys to play with. You could get her a Kong and fill it with some of her dry kibble. this will keep her occupied while she works at getting the kibble out and is also good for her teeth. A big smokey bone from the Pet Shop is also a good thing to get for her but do try to avoid the rawhide bones and chews as these are quite dangerous for small puppies. They can easily choke if left unattended with this type of chew.

I wouldn't advise leaving her food down all the time. You need to get her into a routine and it's far better to give her breakfast, lunch, tea and supper. By doing this you are able to control the housetraining easier.

Water should be always available.

Good luck with your puppy.

Water must be available at ALL TIMES. Never restrict access to it in any way, leave a bowl down at all times.

At 6 weeks old, the pup may only just be weaned. You should be offering a high quality puppy food about three times a day - look on the packet, there will be feeding guidelines. By high quality, I mean something that isn't from a supermarket.

As for biting socks and feet - pretty normal for a young pup. Once she's had her vaccinations, get her enrolled in some puppy classes (ask your vet if they do them or who they knows who does do them) so the dog can be properly trained an socialised. A well-mannered dog is a happy dog.

Your puppy should be taken to the vet whenever you see blood in stools. Bright red blood is usually not as bad as dark and tar-like stools. As far as the sock biting goes, spray your feet/socks with Bitter Apple, tell her "no" when she bites, and redirect her to her toy bin. Show her what things she CAN bite on. Feedings should be several times a day with a good quality puppy food. Remember to moisten the food with warm water and pick it up after 15-20 minutes. Feed her at the same time intervals each day.

ok all u can do for ur socks are tell her no and tap her little nose so she understands. for the blood thing she needs to go to the vet for her shots and everything.and feed her at the same time everyday but dont over feed her. because she is only 6 weeks old she need about 1 cup everytime you feed her. make sure she always has fresh water and if it is a hot day put ice cubes in her water dogs like that. and it is somewhat normal for dogs to look and their poop but not to eat it

food is 3-4 times a day, a handful is enough because pups get sick if overfed.
fresh water must be available all the time.
say "NO" whenever your pup biting your socks, it'll take time but eventually she'll get the idea.
my pup used to eat his poop too, i gave him chewable tablets for stop stool eating (you can get at pet shop or online). some pups like to eat stool but naturally they do stop.
about the blood, she probably ate bugs (my pup had the same thing & he used to eat my plants & grass) so the vet asked us to give him cottonballs that we dip into milk to help clean his stomach and get the bugs or whatever he ate out. just ask your vet what to do because maybe he wants to see your pup to make sure depends how long your pup have had it or how much blood.

Give the food 4 times a day for 15 minutes at a time. Pick the food back up so she learns to eat her food at mealtimes, as she gets older start giving her food just twice a day, in the morning and in the evening. Dogs should always have fresh water, if you want you can pick it up at bedtime to help with housebreaking, but I personally always leave water out for my dogs. Tell her "NO" when she bites your feet, she will eventually get the idea.

i fed my puppy 4 times a day, morning, noon, mid afternoon and evening.I gave him a handful of food, because he ate too much and got sick. You cannot over feed your puppy at this age my vet told me. give him water with the food and make sure after you feed him let him out. they usually have to go after eatting.

The feet I think its that its close to him (eye level) hes trying to play with you. Get down to his level and give him a toy.Good luck with your new puppy!
