it doesn't sound like they need more money, it sounds like they need to learn to budget and live within their means!

They aren't kids anymore. They are adults. You have to let them learn to live within their means. They either need to cut back on their expenses or get another job. You shouldn't be giving them anymore money. It is one thing if you are paying for their college, but even if you are, you should set a budget for them and if they can't stay in that budget then tough you shouldn't give them extra cash just because they want it..

My mom helps me out a lot when I need extra cash. I guess I'm on the other end of this situation. I took a budgeting class rcently at my local junior college and it has helped me immensely. You could try telling them that you won't help them out anymore until you see them making an effort to learn how to better their situations.

They'll have more money if you stop giving them yours. This seems odd, but they KNOW that they can buy that extra beer or go out that extra night because you'll be there to save them.
If they know that you won't bail them out of a bind, they'll be more careful with their money, and they'll find ways of making more. (selling blood plasma works in a bind, by the way)

My kids - aged 17 & 23 - both work 2 jobs.
Cut off the extra money - tell them to cut expenses - no beer, no hair coloring, no cable tv, no lattes, no fast food - put them on a strict budget instead of reinforcing careless spending. Do not co-sign for any loans/credit cards.

*you're* going broke? If they're living off of your $ I think you have a right to know were their money is going. Are they spending it foolishly. Cut the cord. Theyre going to have to learn to take care of themselves. JObs are everywhere if your desperate (fast food, retail, hospitals); selling unused things laying around the house; do they have a talent they could make money with? sit down and talk to them.

Make them grow up by STOP giving them any of your money! They don't need to ask you unless it is an emergency - if their paychecks will not cover their expenses, either cut back or go get a second job.

Time to close the "Bank of Parents"
Time to sit down with them and explain the concept of budgeting. If they still don't get it, then thay need to get second jobs.
