when stonehenge was built ,the locals then must have thought Oh no what a carbuncle on our lovely green field, built by slave labour with non complementary materials from hundreds of miles away, what a bloody eyesore.probably the ancient equivalent of the millenium dome.wouldnt it save the annual rigmarole and policing costs if they crushed the stones and built some well needed houses on the site?

that is exciting, even nevertheless it kind of feels too focussed on basically one factor. there are diverse sides to Stonehenge. the unusual carvings, extra Breton than British, the woodworking suggestions in stone, the super inner horseshoe, the midsummer and midwinter alignments, the masses of human keeps to be alongside with a burial interior the centre and a youthful guy killed with the help of arrows interior the returned and buried on the front. there have been extra digs occurring interior the section, the biggest dig interior the international, and particularly some exciting stuff has became up. It isn't generic until next 12 months nevertheless. inspect the Stonehenge rRiverside challenge on the internet for particularly some extremely appropriate stuff alongside with the close by monuments(the place the stonehenge human beings certainly lived and feasted) as that's all area of the finished.

maybe, you should look these things up before you go making such foolish remarks, thousands of years ago mankind hunted for their food, we were carnivores and hunted big animals, and to do so, we had to hunt at night, and get animals when they were defenceless, meaning that back then, we were pretty much nocturnal, we relied on the moon just as we rely on the sun today, eventually, cold weather and over hunting wiped out all the big animals, meaning that we had to turn to farming, hence we rely on the sun, but we began to get ill from this, life expectancy was shortened, and people believed that the reason for this was because we were neglecting the moon god, so, we built monuments such as the stone henge in respect and honour of the moon in the hope that the moon would once again look after us, and i guess it did
if we tear down the Stonehenge for the simple and not vital need of housing, that would be great disrespect of the moon and mankind may fall once again

Understand that stonehenge happen before we ever came up with this idea of seperating man from nature. So your concept of them thinking it was an eyesore is your peception not theirs.... Before orgnized religion, before we could pretend that we know better for ourselves. Understand that stonehenge sits as an example of humans attempt to understand not only his place with nature but the universe. Also read a book about the subject in its hayday it was a beutiful struture that was actually used as a calander. Don't just throw ignorance out there because its funnny, its stuff like that, that makes the science look like pop-fiction.

Interestingly Stone Henge is a building constructed by believers in God mapping out the night sky which depicts Jesus Christs and the plan of salvation and the working out of that including all biblical prophecy. It was just stolen by the pagans later on.

This means that the solstice in not in fact the celebration of their pagan gods (with a small g) but in fact the depiction of the coming of Christ to save humanity and all that it entails.

If you wonder what I'm talking about because the pat answer to this is that paganism pre dates Christ ITS BECAUSE HE IS THE LORD God and he was in the garden of Eden walking in the cool of the day with Adam. ITS PROPHECY IN THE STARS.

you will all want me to have the points for this I'm sure

I think when they built it they were really excited to worship God

DATS WAT I THINK INNIT mwha ha ha It's just as justified as any one elses and a real possibility. The prophecy in the stars is true though if you take time to find out. No one really knows the history of stone henge but I actually think my idea is a real possibility. Stones always relate to Gods people.

Personally I like stonehenge but maybe if we had left the millenium dome for a few thousand years people would have liked that.

I don't think I've ever heard anything about slave labor building Stonehenge.... Anyway.... I suppose the tourism revenue makes up for the rest.

I can't argue with that, perhaps a few did think that way. But there must have been a considerable amount of determination and dedication to have built it at all, so I would think they were amongst the minority.

I think you are right, you are a visonary.

History isn't what it used to be, you know, and anyway the past just isn't like it was in the old days, it doesn't hold up anymore.

Tear it all down , or keep it and build a laser tag / paintball park. It would be fun to duck and dive between those big rocks.

Cute, but I think History, if you care to study it, shows us that they probably felt different about it. I think we should leave it alone. Of course I live in the U.S. and don't know the housing situation on that dinky Island.
