The ingredient is an amphetamine salt compound (whose exact chemical composition may vary depending on manufacturer and prescribed dosage). It is not strictly an appetite suppressant but acts as a general stimulant. The stimulant effect causes a masking of the hunger response due to over-stimulation of some of the gastrointestinal muscles.
