The other day my cat got into a fight with another cat and his cheek got sliced open, well I cleaned it up and put some ointment on it. Well it looked like it started healing. Anyways, i was petting him the other day and was checking to see if his cut was healing when i noticed there was a hole under his cut and just under his cheek. it looked like a little of his cheek was sticking out, so I put some ointment on that too. Well the past couple days it's been getting bigger and pusier and looking really bad. He has a hole in his face and it's scaring me to death! Someone mentioned a worble then someone else mentioned cancer! I am freaking out now thinking it's cancer. I didn't think cancer would start that fast and I would think if he had cancer that he would be acting sickly, but he isn't. I'm not exactly positive how old he is since he just showed up at my fiances grandpas and he gave him to me.

This really could be a numerous amount of things from necrosis of the tissue due to infection to a parasitic infection. The best thing you can do is take him to the vet so that they can find out exactly what is going on and the best way to treat it. Good luck

It sounds like he may have a secondary infection due to his prior injury. But as you know your vet is the best answer and until you can get him there you may want to call your vet for advice. You should also ask if putting ointment on it is the best thing as he can lick it off and it may make his tummy upset. There are also many non-profit organizations that help out low income pet owners, such as Emancipet in Austin, Texas. I truly think you should at least put a call into your vet if for nothing else peace of mind. I am owned by 2 cats and I understand how unsettling your situation is, please do yourself a favor and just make a few calls for support and answers. I sure hope your cat gets better soon! Good luck and God bless.

It's probably not cancer. The same thing happened to a cat I had. My brother just kept it cleaned out everyday and it healed over a little time. It really just sounds like it's swollen and infected. Taking it to the vet is a good idea because they'll be able to tell you exactly what's wrong and can clean the wound out really well. I wouldn't start thinking cancer though, that'll just cause you to freak out.

If you're so concerned, then stop wasting time on the computer asking unqualified persons for medical advice. And knock off the crappy home remedies.

Get that cat to the vet! And don't whine about how you can't afford it. If you can't afford to properly care for your pet you have no right to have one.

There, now you have no more excuses. Your cat will get the care he is LEGALLY entitled to, your vet will get paid, and you can make monthly payments.

Get that cat in today! If your vet can't or won't see him, get him to an emergency vet. You've wasted far too much time already. It is his RIGHT BY LAW to receive medical treatment and to deny it is abuse.

Sounds like your cat has a serious infection. He needs to go to a vet now, not when you get paid. He may not live until then.

Pus is NOT a good sign. The hole under the cut sounds like 'tunneling' which can happen when tissue dies.

It's not cancer get that out of your head right now. It was obviously for the fight he was in with the other cat. now i understand that you are waiting for your paycheck to take him to the vet,but there are vets who will accept payment and there are also places like animal advacates that will only charge you as much as you can bring that day. if you had a hole in your face would you wait to see a doctor? please bring your cat to the vet. NOW !

He doesn't have cancer, that does not develop in a open wound right after he got in a fight. He probably has a bad infection because the right antibiotics were not administered. You need to get him to a vet to cure the infection. It could spread but probably won't kill him, but act fast.

You could call the vet and speak to the nurse there. i have called the vet twice for may cat and both times the nurse gave me advice. They don't have a medical degree but they do learn while helping the vet.

You need to take him to the vet..that is what they are here for. If your child had his cheek sliced open, wouldnt you rush him to a doctor??

You are implying that you have never taken this cat to the vet. Why are you allowing him to be outdoors especially without vaccines?

When we first got my cat he had a nasty eye infection with the same symptoms, and it was hard for him to open his eye when it was shut. Take him into the vet, they will check him out and he will be given medicine. It probably isn't serious if you bring him fast, and the medicine wasn't all that expensive, don't worry.
