he has hair loss that started from below his ears and have made their way on the top of his head and around his neck... it's very dry and parts of it look really red, and i'm gonna take him to the vet, but just wanted to see if there was a disease that fit the symptoms? he also doesn't scratch where it is.

i can't go to the vet yet because i am too young to drive and my grampa won't take me.

he is an outdoor cat, and i don't let him inside because he might infect my other cat...

It sounds like it may be Ringworm or somekind of parasitic infestation. The vet will be able to tell you for sure what is going on and they'll also be able to give you the best treatment. Poor Kitty. Good luck

It's OK. Take him to the vet as soon as you can. I'm sure that nothing serious is going to happen to him over the weekend. Call the vet and make an appointment first thing monday morning if it's possible to get him there then. I wouldn't wait anylonger then 3-4 days because I'm sure that he isn't feeling like he normally would. Good luck

Just get the cat to a vet. It's pretty pointless asking on here because with these symptoms it could be mange, ringworm, fleas, allergies, skin infection, hormones - all these fit the symptoms. It's also very cruel not to let a cat inside because it's ill, please explain this to your grampa so he understands the cat needs to get to a vet pronto! Odds are it isn't even contagious - ringworm might be, but that's about it.

Well, it appears your cat may have ringworm. Confine your outdoor cat inside in a single room. Obviously, I mean a room where your other cat is not allowed in, like the garage or bathroom. Ringworm could spread to outdoor kitties owned by your neighbors, so it is not sensible to leave your cat outside. It can spread to humans as well so you (AND your Grandpa especially) should wash your hands everytime you touch him. I'm a disabled teenage pet owner(about 14 years old), so I sympathize with you. Grandpa needs to learn that this a serious problem. If he still will not take you and your cat to the vets, ask another adult family member, a neighbor, or a friend to take you. You may get grounded for going to the vets for your cat's safety, but your kitty needs medical attention. By the way, do you have any dogs or other animals in your house? They could all get ringworm too.

Sounds like your cat could have the mange. It could also be some type of skin disorder. If your grandfather doesn't want to drive you to the vet's office, call them and describe to them your cats hair loss, ask your mom and dad, or family friend to take you. That's what I do when I need to take my cat to the vet for whatever problem that there is, I ask my Mom, friends, or I take a taxi.

Stop the crap about not being able to get him to a vet. Tell your grandfather that it is your cat's RIGHT BY LAW to receive proper medical care and to deny it is abuse. If you can't properly care for your pets then you have no right to have them.

There are also mobile vets who can come to your house. Try giving one of them a call. Look in the yellow pages or on the internet.

That cat needs to see a VET! Don't wait anymore.

When my sisters cat started loosing fur it eneded up being ringworms. If you are worried you could always acll the vet and speak to the nurse there. i have called the vet twice and both times the nurse gave me advice. They usually do this job because they love animals and want to help.
