I don't know how to tell if the diff is a "sure-Grip" or not, if the friction modifier won't harm either way - I'd just use it!

On the differential cover plate there will be 2 or 3 tags affixed with the bolts that hold on the plate. One will have the gear ratio, one will say Sure Grip and one may have some undecipherable numbers. That is, if they are still on there. If there is only one with the gear ratio, chances are it is not a Sure Grip. If you have a jack strong enough to raise both rear wheels, with the truck in gear, try to rotate the tires on one side. If it rolls and the other side rolls the opposite direction, it is not Sure Grip. If it extremely hard or impossible, it is a Sure Grip. Another test would be to take it out of gear and roll one side, and the other will roll in the same direction.
If you don't want to go to the trouble, put the modifier in anyway.

Get rid of all the gimmick stuff, and replace with Mobil 1 Syn 75W-90

Great stuff!

I would go with Royal Purple gear oil, it's the best stuff out there.
