ive had this for over a year, balds spots come and go, caused by small, puss filled bumps. I went to the dermatologists and she insisted that it was FUNGUS. So she prescribed me LAMISIL. Ive been taking it for like a month now and it just doesnt seem like its getting better. Bumps are still there, when i cut my hair short the bald spots are still there. Im getting so sick of this!!!! Ive dealt with this for over a year and i work in the sales field dealing with people everyday!! Now this is costing me now over $400 to get to the point i am right now. So obviously the lamisil isnt working!! The only way i can really hide them is grow out my hair. Which is what im prob. gonna haveta do.
Anyone have any suggestions?

When you start lamisil it takes a while to see results and you will probably be on it for about a year or more. Fungus in very stubborn..

As a healthcare provider I can tell you results with Lamisil take alot of time no matter what we are giving it for. Fungal infections are very difficult to get rid of in certain sites....obviously one is the scalp. You have tinea capitus. Truthfully, I have never ordered Lamisil for this diagnosis, that is what we call off lable ordering....not saying this is inappropriate. I usually give Grifulvin V 500mg once daily. It can still take a while to clear....but this is the usual therapy. (The "V" stands for penicillin, so if you are allergic to this you have to get this drug without the penicillin added and add another antibiotic). It is a strong medication.....bloodwork has to be monitored while taking it (the same applies to Lamisil) because, as I said, fungus is hard to kill. The only thing that I wonder about with Lamisil is that it does not contain an antibiotic. In school we were taught that tinea in the scalp needed an antibiotic as well as an antifungal. I am not trying to argue or undermine your physician. Just informing. Some healthcare providers will not like it if you ask about another therapy. I personally think that the patient should be well informed and the plan of care should be decided with the provider and the patient deciding together.

You may have a fungus but, what kind and where are you getting it, is it a continuing disease?
I think it's time to put your doctors back to the door and start asking questions. Is this something she looked at or actually took tests of? what made her come to this decision. I know some of these doctors look from a distance and then guess hoping you'll go away.
I think you need a good dermatologist and fast. This may be fungal but obviously the Lamisol isn't working, you need something much stronger.

And, it shouldn't take a "year or more"

ti had the same problem, they said the same thing. so i went to home remedies which was sulfur oil then because the bumps were not completely gone i use witch hazel to dry up the bumps. then i found out the best way to kill the fungus was not just topical but also internally with antibiotics. but my hair would not come back. Then my daughter went to beauty school and introduced me to a product called nioxin scalp cleanser and conditioner found only at a beauty supply store cost a pretty penny but no more bumps hair regrowth is slow. goood luck

possibly impetigo.. try rinsing your hair with this : boil about a quart of water and put into a glass jar that has a lid. then put about 3 tablespoons of sage ( the herb that they add to turkey dressing) into the water, screw the lid on and allow to steep like a tea. after mixture has cooled, strain and rinse your hair with the liquid. do not rinse out. do this several times during the week. or my mother's old school remedy, wash your hair/head with water that has bleach in it. About 2 capfuls of bleach per quart of water. again do not rinse out.
good luck, if all else fails, find another dermatologists.

You got herpes of the head. Maybe you used a dirty pillow after someone had a good time.
