Well, you can't legally find a job for a 12 - year old, for it is against child labor laws, or at least in the United States. However 12 year olds would be able to do services to the neighbors for a little money such as gardening, mowing the lawns, or cleaning his house and his parents pay him. Most of this is up to the parents and the kid though.

mowing yards is great experience and that's what I did when I was young to make money -
here's some pointers -
1 - bring your parents along when you first estimate a job - it is very important to correctly estimate how much time it will take to do the job, and how much you should charge for the job. A couple of years ago this kid advertised and was doing yard work. We asked him how much it would take to do the job - and they terribly underestimated, We were going to pay him more anyway - but he never finished the job and then the mom chewed me out thinking I was taking advantage of the kid -and I was trying to find out from him how much he wanted to do the job. The person doing the work needs to tell the customer how much it will be, and honestly the mom should have helped the kid when estimating the job, it was totally out of place for her to have treated me like she did, and I won't have him back here.
I regret charging widows to do work for them - I should have done them for free.
Do a good job - build your reputation and your business will grow. You can make a decent amount of money mowing yards.
honestly - enjoy being a kid. you'llh ave plenty of time in your life to work.

Check local recreation department listings. There may be an opening for someone to do part time work. Day Care centers may need some day time help. Shoot, what a great time to start your own business doing something that you enjoy. Walk some dogs, start making something ingenious . . .

Let the kid be a kid. A 12-year-old is too young to work for money.
