I am a strong writer; i am going into AP english next year as a junior. Regarding the SATs, I always do incredibly well in the writing section, and slightly worse in the reading comprehension and math sections. I love writing yet I'm not into reading the classics, so i definitely do not see myself being an english teacher in the future. My mom would really like me to go into speech pathology, but I am not exactly sure what a job like that entails. I know I don't have to decide what I want to go into now, but I would like to start thinking about it. All ideas would be very helpful. College suggestions would also be useful.

Technical writing. It's a great major that will actually get you a job out of college (as opposed to creative writing). You'd be very marketable in law, engineering, and publishing fields (to name a few).

In college, I'd recommend trying to get a job at the campus writing center. They offer services to help students improve the content of their term papers as well as other editing advice.

The people who make the most money out of college are engineers and accountants.

With the coming retirement of the "Baby Boom" generation of teachers, there should be strong demand for people going into teaching as a career.

A strong English background is good if you would consider going to law school. Lawyers tend to be very good writers, and writing is always in demand.

Would you consider becoming a librarian? There are many opportunities, and libraries are not just books anymore. Librarians are "media specialists" -- a lot involves computers and electronic databases, as well as books. My wife had worked in public libraries, university libraries, and public school libraries. She finds it more rewarding [personally] than teaching.

If you like to write so much have you ever considered being a Journalism major?

I know you can major in speech pathology...And to be a practicing speech pathologist, you have to have at least a master's degree which is 4+ years of college.

Also, if you really like to write you may want to consider being an advertising major, or a Mass Communication or Mass Media major.
