The Bible says that God did walk in the garden with Adam and Eve every day.
However, sin separates us from God. He is too holy for the Earth. Your sins put a wedge between you and God but a pardon is offered through Jesus. Then we are reconciled with Him -- but the entire earth doesn't follow Him.
The Holy Spirit resides in me......... excellent question.

FEV: God did "walk in the garden [Eden] with our first greatest grand parents - Adam and Eve. Read about it in Genesis, chapter 3 , verse 8 - Adam & Eve HID from God. In effect, their exercise in "doing their own thing" was telling God to "shove it" and mind your own business - a "we'll decide for ourselves what's right and what's wrong". God obliged them. Ever since, us humans have done just that - finding out we are NOT God. Take heart !!! Ultimately, Jesus Christ will personally, intervene into the affairs of this orb and establish a world-ruling government (see: Isaiah, chapter 9 , verses 6 & 7 ) emphasising: " their will be no end". Once the nations of this earth are on the brink of self-inflicted, total extinction due to famine, diseases and wars Jesus Christ will step-in to save us all from our selves. The GOOD NEWS is that we all (every human ever, born will have a chance and a choice to live under His [Jesus' Rule] and live in absolute peace, abundance & happiness, absent of any death or Satan to impede the process. (Read about it in John, chapter 5, verses 28 - 29; & Revelation chapters 20 & 21). God did not create people to just live and die !!! There is a process involving a Plan for the human creation being implemented - a splendid time is guaranteed for all !!! MORE JESUS - LESS RELIGION !!!

Au contrair! GOD chose to live within us, among us, in every piece of creation.
It is us (people) that would like to see him up in the sky expectant only as a Big Brother... so we could be left by ourselves to do as we wanted and to feel that down here we rule.
Godspeed to all!

Oops: You should study a bit more.
God chose TO LIVE among the people He created. He came as Jesus Christ.
And in early times, He traveled with the Israelites. He had to veil his glory and majesty because unholiness cannot exist in the presence of a holy God. His very holiness would zap anything unholy. (It's surprising you don't know that, being a top contributor and all...?)
But would you choose to live among your children if they treated you with disrespect and finally murdered you?

Because of our sin. But it won't always be like that.
The current Heaven is in the angelic realm, distinctly separate from earth (though likely having more earthly qualities than we often assume).
But the future Heaven will be in the human realm, on earth. The dwelling place of God will be the dwelling place of man. That dwelling place will not be where believers go now when we die. It will be in a resurrected universe. Heaven, God's dwelling place, will be relocated to the new earth (Rev. 21:1-3).
The New Jerusalem which was in Heaven then comes down out of Heaven from God. Where does it go to? The New Earth. Then "the dwelling of God"—which means Heaven—will be with men in their realm: earth.
"Heaven" can refer to the place we go at death, the intermediate state where we live until the resurrection. But the ultimate "Heaven" is the one spoken of in Revelation 21-22. It's the new cosmos where we'll live forever, after our resurrections. Since Heaven is God's dwelling place, when God chooses to relocate on the New Earth, he will bring Heaven with him, expanding it to include the new universe.

The word god is so miss understood.
We have made god a he or she, and even given him a place to live. We try so hard to understand just who god really is to us.
And for many their search for understanding of who god is stays confined to the pages of times past and are no closer to its understand or the magnitude of the divine.
The spread of separatism will destroy us all.
We can not grasp the full concept of what god is, so, for me, I choose to say that my god lives on the white sands of a tropical beach covered with palm trees with a cool breeze in the afternoon air and loves all of humanity as we go through our creation.

In the beginning we lived with God in Heaven. We are the ones who choose to leave him and forget our past life with him. That way we could learn the lessons we needed to become more like him. Those lessons include getting a body, knowing right from wrong, how to have faith to be able to think for ourselves, along with a whole lot of other things, like pain from pleasure. After this short learning experience depending how we done upon parts of it like overcoming temptation to sin. And how well we used our ability to have faith we will once again be able to live with him if we so choose.

God chooses to live inside of you, rather than among you. He is creator of the universe. Why should he not live in the heavens?

The way I see it, it is impossible for God to live apart from us in any way, since everything exists In and From the mind of God.
God does not live "Above" us. We live Inside God.

Hello dear!
Well, you have to rephrase your question: Why the creators of god made him select this appearance for him!
And the answer to this: Because if he was among the masses, the rulers wouldn't rein, Democracy, the real one would be the system, if not anarchy!
