There are many who believe, and will state, that our Mind(s) -- our Consciousness -- IS God. Thus I pose the question::
If our Mind IS God; Who Thinks First?

got_air? (2nd Reply):: Those words were spoken in the old testament; a time when the Mind (Consciousness) of the human race was not as evolved as it is today. Are we not to be as perfect as our Heavenly Father-Mother? Would this not include a merging of two into one? ;-)

Within this physical expression, our idea of "thinking" is highly limited. "God" is the whole of all consciousness, but greater than the sum of consciousness. There is no gap, no space, no division between us and God. There is no time, thus no "first".
We have allowed ourselves to become so deeply disheartened, that we cannot see the truth of who and what we really are.
Everything occurs simultaneously; creation is at once, not a series. We perceive it in a series, because this is our idea of "time". Therefore, we think something must come first. Then something else must come second, or last. This is not so.

God does not think, except in the larger context in the form of the human. Conceptually, this Consciousness is not what is meant by human consciousness. There is only one Consciousness.
So, the Essence of God is often seen as pure, subjective Awareness. Consciousness, which is not other than Awareness, is the potential to be 'aware of' something, and the human experience, of which individual minds are a part, is the 'thingness' of which Awareness is aware. This 'thingness' is not other than Consciousness. All of it is God. There is nothing but God, but thinking only arises in the human, which is an expression of the Essence of God.
There is no God 'out there' thinking. All the thinking happens right here.

If my mind is god the human race is in severe trouble. How laughable. What a pathetic and puny god that would be and that includes if everyone's mind was god all together. What a pathetic mess.
R&S truly a surreal world where we can be thought full of ego for NOT wanting to be the source of all being. What an upside-down universe. I hope I am misunderstanding something. I hope this is semantics.

According to the bible our mind is ours, not God. It says that our thoughts are not His thoughts.
edit: In my opinion, no. Here is the text I was referring to...
For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts. Isaiah 55:8-9
edit2: just saw your response, sorry about the delay...you bring up a great point but one with which I personally don't agree. We were created in God's image but we were also given a mind. That fact has not changed. The life of Jesus gave mankind a much better understanding of the character of God but we are still encouraged to seek God through His word. No where does the bible encourage us to believe we can understand God through our own thoughts. Hope this makes sense.

For the sake of making a point, I will agree with the presumption "Our mind is God". If our mind is one and the same as God, how could one preceed the other? Your question would be like asking "what came first, the chicken egg or the egg?

Who Thinks First ? . . . God . . .Yet, out of that thought (that comes to our mind) comes our Free Will. From that Free Will the shifting and molding begins and that First Thought then is played out as it is. That process is called us being Human.

The mind and our conscious are not the same thing. Our conscious is what allows us to make moral discussions. Our minds is our knowledge and memories. A person can have a great mind and no conscious.

This may sound strange to some but I am cutting away untruth, no-thought thinks first. Do you know me? ~ : ) EDIT: The ocean is deep, the waves rise and fall back in. I am falling into myself. To fall into myself I must come out for a little while you know. This rising and falling, pure bliss, supreme tantra! ~ : )

When we are asleep where is the mind.--Unconscious state, we have to detach consciousness from spine to reach other higher levels of higher consciousness. For this we have to make our MIND-- to NO MIND. That is thoughtless state. To attain this breathing exercise.
