I figure most coffee machines will have either a metalic or plastic taste, so I guess it's all down to personal choice at the end of the day.

However, it seems silly splashing out for a coffee machine unless you're going to put it to its intended use. So, for anyone out there who is looking to buy a coffee machine because they LIKE coffee...

...All coffee machines worth their weight required ground coffee - which is completely different to that horrid abomination known as Instant Coffee. Ground coffee often costs less than Instant Coffee (check your larger supermarket shelves, like ASDA and you'll see).

However more and more stores also stock coffee beans these days (ASDA are doing their own brand of 227g for £1 right now). Coffee beans, though, need to be ground - so you'll need a grinder. And this is the route I suggest because it opens up a whole host of bean varieties that smell and taste absolutely incredible. (Give arabica beans a shot.)

So, grab a regular coffee maker with a decent capacity, a coffee grinder, a bag of demara sugar, and creamer, then track down that nice little Polish man who runs the coffee bean stall in your local indoor market.

(Hmmm... do Starbucks sell weighed coffee beans in the UK?)

If you like really strong coffee, I'd recommend adding more grounds before you start the coffee maker. Alternatively, you can use what i use. I use a French Press, or Chambord. A French Press is essentially a beaker. You places a bunch of grounds at the bottom, boil water and pour over. You wait 4 minutes and then there's a plunger at the top you press down and it traps the grounds at the bottom. With one of these there are so many ways to make the coffee stronger. You can let it sit longer than 4 minutes, or add more grounds, less water. The coffee comes out great. Trust me. I know my coffee. You can buy a french press at any starbucks probably... I dont go in them though. I know they are in kitchen supply stores. Good luck.

The main thin that commercial coffee machines give you that domestic ones dont is pressure. Go for the highest pressure that you can get as a broad generalisation.
I'd advise a Nespresso machine. They are very high standard & perfect for if you only have a few cups a day as the grind is sealed in capsules & wont dry out.

I think you would find most of the coffee machines would taste of metal or plastic I would try drinking the contents rather than trying to eat the machine, haha seriously I would try the breville one that uses the little plastic pots as it not only does all the types of coffee it does hot chocolate as well terriff

I use the old fashioned percolator. It makes the best coffee. I use Folgers in it and the coffee tastes just as good as much more expensive coffee made in a drip coffee maker. Coffee stays hotter for longer too.

only home choice is a Bunn, (most used by restaurants). Water come out hot and actually brews the coffee. I have owned this brand for over 20 years. Wouldn't start my day w/o it.

My fave so far has been a Mr. Coffee w/ an insulated carafe. That way the coffee doesn't cook and cook and cook over a hot plate, but stays warm in the carafe.

I don't think I fully understand your question. Are you asking which is the best coffee grinder or coffee maker? I'm not sure about coffee grinders, but I am absolutely in love with my Bunn Coffee Maker.
See if a friend has one and try it out, I'm sure you'll love it too!

I've never tasted a coffee machine. (haha)

A good ol' Mr. Coffee and Wal*Mart brand Arabica makes a great cup of joe.
