Try the Tiramisu cake. The word "Tiramisu" is Italian for "pick me up."
Note: The lady finger cookies package usually has the recipes for the Tiramisu cake.
Here is some information for the Tiramisu cake.
Makes 12 servings in 35 minutes+chilling out
a) 1/2 cup milk
b) 1 cup of hot strong coffee (e.g., Expresso)
c) 3 tblsp brandy
d) 1/2 cup + 2 tblsp of sugar
e) 18 ladyfingers (hard or soft)
f) 3/4 cup heavy whipping cream
g) 16-17 oz of mascarpone cheese
h) Chocolate sprinkles
1) In a 9" pie plate or bowl: combine coffee, brandy and 2 tblsp sugar and stir until the sugar has disolved.
2) Cool all this to room temperature.
3) Dip both sides of 9 ladyfinger cookies into coffee mixture, one at a time, to soak slightly; arrange in single layer in 8" square baking dish.
4) Use a large bowl to stir milk and remaining 1/2 cup of sugar until sugar has disolved.
5) Stir in mascarpone cheese until blended
6) Use a medium bowl with mixer at high speed: beat cream until soft peaks form.
7) Use a rubber spatula, gently fold whipped cream into mascarpone mixture until blended.
8) Spread half of mixture over ladyfingers in baking dish.
9) Dip remaining 9 ladyfingers into coffee mixture and arrange on top of mascarpone cheese mixture. Spread with remaining mascarpone mixture. Refrigerate 3 hours or even overnight.
10) Meanwhile, prepare Chocolate Curls or Sprinkles
11) Just before serving, dust with cocoa. Cut into squares and spoon into goblets or dessert dishes. Garnish with chocolate curls or sprinkles.
This is how the Italians get their guests "picked up"(tiramisued). It works on other nationalities as well.
