Not much, because when you hit the back of the semi, you won't go far!

Wouldn't it be dangerous following a Semi that close just to get a few more miles per gallon? I would rather see where I am going and not always see his tail end!

I am an over the road truck driver - when I find tailgaters doing just that with me, I slow down until they pass - it isnt worth your life to tailgate just for a lousy mile or two more per gallon - I have seen accidents where someone ran under a truck trailer bumper and lost their life but all that happened to the trailer was the bumper got bent - is it worth your life for that???

You shouldn't tailgate anything. The driver of the semi can't even see you back there. Let us know how the back end of a 54-foot trailer tastes.

The tests we have done show a heaping ONE mile per gallon increase. It is totally not worth the extreme danger you are putting yourself and riders of your vehicle, and other vehicles on the road, to gain that large ONE mile per gallon increase. If you want to check it out yourself(if you do, you are as big an idiot as me) take a Chevy with onboard instantaeous mileage readout and do it yourself. Make sure you leave a will so your love ones know what to do with your posessions and disposal of your body. Sign your organ donar card first, also.

They just did it on Myth Busters on the Discovery Channel. It's not worth the risk.

You can get slammed to the back of the semi, and then you won't have a thing to worry about....
Don't do it...
It's not worth it...

if you can get in the right draft of one you can get one to two more miles per gallon ,really it all depends on the car and the driver, and how well its tuned, any good running car tuned really well will average at least one more mile to the gallon and i have seen some that would get a lot more, good luck on it hope this helps.
