It depends on the person and their convictions and not on the religion. Every person is different. I've met closed minded people from all walks of religion. Just because I'm an American doesn't mean that I love Baywatch. Nor does it mean that because I'm a _______(or fill in the blank with a religion) that I'm closed minded and not open to criticism.
I think that IN GENERAL many religions teach a set of theology and people don't know how to critically think for themselves and as a result, If one were to challenge their thinking they would get hurt or offended.
P.S. I struggle with Baywatch, I'm an American, and I am very very open to criticism. . . and I follow _________.

I always thought all religions fit that bill, but what do I know?
Among the more irritating consequences of our flagrantly religious society is the special dispensation that mainstream religions receive. We all may talk about religion as a powerful social force, but unlike other similarly powerful institutions, religion is not to be questioned, criticized or mocked.

Roman Catholic and Islam.
Please don't confuse Roman Catholic with Bible believing Chrisitans.
Roman Catholics have a long history of burning people at the stake for doing sinful things like:
1. Inventing the telescope
2. Translating the Bible into English
3. Showing that the earth and other planets revolves around the sun.
The Roman Catholic Church tried to kill Martin Luther but since the printing press was in Germany by then, the people knew that Luther was right and the RCC was wrong.

For answering this question, we need to look into the Scriptures to find out what the truth is. For Christianity, Christ came for sinners (chosen ones) and all are called to follow.
Let us not confuse Scriptures with actions of people. One needs to scrutinze the text conveying the message and not rely on the actions of the people claiming to follow a religion, to answer these kinds of questions.
I have seen verses from books of islam and hindu that call for intolerance against non practitioners of their respective religions.

Islam, Christians and Jehovahs Witnesses seem to be the main culprits of intolerance.

Islam doesn't seem to have a good track record in that regard.
Most Muslims don't tend toward violence, of course, but there do seem to be a disproportionate number of them who have some anger-management issues.
