When I die, if I am wrong and there really is a deity when the time comes I will willingly take responsibility and pay any penaltys allocated to me at that time...

Hmm. Well I'm an agnostic, not quite the same but I don't lie, last time I stole it was a quarter from my cousin and I was an alter boy at the time some 30 odd years ago, too apathetic to lust after anything, hating takes up too much of my energy so I try to stay well away from that and the cussing I do doesn't involve any god in any way shape or form. I believe that Jesus was a man, a very wise one in all probability and I have much respect for him and many other wise people. I will go to a place of pain, torment, sorrow (sorry not sure what sarrow is) and fire for this? Then you have the gonads to say that your god is just and forgiving and all loving? Hmmm. Sorry if I don't run right away to the nearest cleric of the domination that will grant me safe passage to heaven. Not sure which one that will be, they all claim to be THE right way. Maybe you could enlighten me?

If they don't believe in God, what makes you think they believe in hell?
Look, theres something you need to understand:
A Christian has absolutely NO mandate from Heaven to convince or to convert anyone. Plant a seed if there is an opportunity to do that (never at your place of employment).
This forum is a good place to plant a seed. BUT: we have
no power to make a seed grow. Thats Gods job, and it may not be time for the person yet. All things by Gods timetable.
Also, you need to check out the Scriptures when it comes to hell. Actually after the Great Judgement, all those who
don't make the grade follow Satan into the lake of fire.
That will turn them to ashes from within, but then after that,
even the lake of fire is done away with.
Nobody will be eternally in any fire - we will all be in spiritual bodies, and fire does not affect the spiritual body. This notion of an eternal place of torment is not scriptural, and it is one of the reasons alot of people run away from the idea of God.
You should stop listening to your priest or pastor, and do some Biblical reading on your own; if you get a Strongs
Concordance, you can translate back to the original language so that you understand what is being said. You will find that nobody remains in a pit of any kind of fire. They will
be destroyed - there won't be anything left of them to torture.

I see it as a statement of belief which I do not share. I do not believe that the Abrahamic God exists, but if he did exist he would not be a just god. No just god would condemn anyone to eternal punishment. Eternal suffering is not a just sentence for any crime, however heinous. No just god would condemn anyone for exercising the free will he gave them. Also, God doesn't seem all that interested in whether a person lies, steals, lusts, hates, and curses--as long as that person also declares his only-begotten son, Jesus, to be their savior and lord. At least according to some Christians, a good non-Christian who never lies, steals, lusts, hates, and curses is still going to hell. That is not justice.

Why is it that God has to put people in hell for their sins? He is God so he makes the rules and has the power to change them. He chooses to burn people in hell for their sins. That makes him cruel. A loving father figure wouldn't say, "You made the wrong choice, so now I have to torture you for an eternity". I don't understand why someone would worship such a tyrant.

My reaction is simple.
(shrug) oh well. I am a good person, and I live a good and happy life with my family, kids, and friends. I am not going to spend time worrying about something that I think is completely man-made in an effort to console humanity over the finite nature of existence.
I don't believe your god exists, but IF he does, and he chooses to punish me for the HORRIBLE crime of not believing in him, I would think he's a childish, vindictive, harsh, unloving a**, and not at all worthy of MY company in eternity.

I'm pretty neutral towards it. As I don't believe in your faith I don't really have any fear of the repercussions. Now, if I was out minding my own business and someone came up to me and said something similar I would react with hostility - but no more than if someone came up and said "F- You," rudeness is rudeness after all.

Yeah yeah yeah. Whatever dude. I'll worry about it when some evidence of his existence is found. Until then, he has the same standing as the Flying Spaghetti Monster, Invisible Pink Unicorn, and Russell's Teapot as far as I'm concerned.

It is sad that a person would choose to accept such horror as Hell as an actual reality, and then tell another person they are doomed to eternity in that horror. How can you believe this and still meet your own eyes in the mirror?

Ok I'm not an Atheist, but what you wrote is ignorant. The bible also states that it is GOD's place to judge, not yours. The sooner everyone learns to stop being so ignorant the sooner the world will be a better place.
