Hold the cork and remove the bottle.
Twist the bottle off instead of prising the cork off.
Dont shake the bottle up before opening, it's got quite enough bubbles in the bottle already.

For best results have the Champagne not freezing cold but nicely chilled, if it has been laying its side for a while ie a few days then stand it up for a good few hours before opening it. Score the foil off and remove the twine. Take the cork firmly between your first two fingers and thumb of your right hand, holding the bottle in you left hand by the body not the neck, gently twist the cork out of the bottle, if the action (ie fizz) in the bottle looks a bit strong ease off and try gentler motions, do this until the broadest and bottom most part of the cork is almost free and then brace yourself because as is the case with all fermented goods there is no guarantee as to its behaviour once it reaches oxygen. When pouring, pour about 2cm then stop let the foam settle and add some more do this until the glass is about two thirds full so that the remainder of the glass can act as a bowl for the nose to get the delicious scent of the drink which is half of the beauty.

the best way to open a bottle of champagne is to hold the bottle in your right hand (if your right handed) and the cork in your left, after you have removed the wire and the foil, HOLD the cork STILL, and twist the BOTTLE slowly, the motion of twisting will break the seal of the cork & bottle and the pressure of the champagne will start to push the cork out, make sure you hold the bottle at a slight angle away from your face (and others!!) and keep slight pressure on the cork so it comes out slowly, when it is free of the bottle, just keep it touching the bottle (with a little pressure) until the gas has escaped, then holding your thumb in the dip at the bottom of the botttle begin to pour, remember; the champagne should not be poured faster than the bubbles dissipate!!

I guess you mean spilling......

1. Remove the foil off the top of the bottle
2. Undo the wire cage using the winder. Don't remove it - it makes it easier to grip the cork.
3. Use a cloth (tea towel type) to grab the cork with the cage still over it & get a good grip.
4. One hand holds the cork - the other the bottom of the bottle. Hold the cork still & slowly turn the bottle - the cork shold come out with a few gentle turns.

Turning the bottle is the main pro technique, with a decent fizz & no knocks or shakes you shouldnt spill a drop.

Alternatively shake the bottle hard, point the top away from yourself (& not at someone else) after removing the foil & cage, get your thumb under the edge of the cork & push. As soon as the cork pops out stick your thumb over the end & spray it over someone else! lol

Untwist the wire holding the cork in, being careful not to shake the bottle. Unlike many cheaper wines the cork will not blow out of it's own accord as the wine is not artificially aerated.

Hold the cork in your hand, or in a cork clamp if you have one, & twist the bottle away from the cork & there you have it!

Champagne is bottle conditioned & in unique in that the sediment is removed by the"remouage"technique.

After undoing the metal wire and removing the foil the best thing to do is to put your hand over the cork as opposed to around it and twist very gently also twisting the bottle with the other hand,as the cork comes free just allow the pressure to release slowly and then remove the cork completely.You will get a small "Pop" but if you do it slowly you wont lose any of the gas within the liquid and therefore enjoy it as it should be.

1. make sure it's well chilled, warm champagne is explosive
2. Keep your face away from the top as you remove the wire, and don't point it at anyone else either.
3. With a cloth in your hand, hold the cork and carefully twist it till you hear air escaping, hold the cork and rock it gentle till the pressure is released.
4. Serve it up voila!
5. WARNING never set the bottle down once you have removed the wire. It can pop up into people's eyes and injure or blind them!!!

Don't hold it around the neck as this warms the liquid at the top & makes it more volatile. Hold the bottle preferably in a cloth with one hand and ease the cork out gently by pressing each side a little at a time until it pops. Don't move it around too much when you are doing this as this will also create pressure.

Do not shake the bottle, remove the foil,then the wire, gently prise the cork upwards, change hand position one hand holding bottle,the other holding cork gently twist and pull SLOWLY ease the cork out should not spill a drop.

1) do not shake bottle
2) remove foil top
3) twist the wire 6 times to unwind it
4) put towel on top of the cork and wire hood.
5) put your hand on top the cork and hold firmly
6) with your other hand slowly twist the BOTTLE, not the cork and gently ease the cork out of the bottle. when cork is clear of the bottle, you will feel little bit of pressure as it pops out of bottle.

voila. sparkling wine for all!
