I just started training at starbucks this week. There's so much to learn and memorize and the people aren't very nice! Should i even bother? I will most likely not have time for it when my teaching job starts in a couple of months anyway.

Just bear with it... take all the free coffee that they give you every week, not to mention the drinks during the work day!

Save up all those coffee beans (in the freezer) and break it out in August when you go to teach. You'll need it more than you ever knew. And this from a teacher. :)

I think that the job will get better for you the longer you are there, but if you are having a serious problem and your anxiety is increased because of the job, I would quit. I say if you need the money stick it out a little longer and if it doesn;t get better you could find something else.

I am going to school to be a teacher and it is fairly easy getting a job at a daycare or head start school program. It probably pays a little more than Starbucks and it is something that is related to your field.

Good luck in your future and hopefully everything works out well for you!

I wouldn't quit because there is much to learn. But if the co-workers are rude, it's because it's fast paced, customers complaining and they aren't being paid enough to be training new people and they get attitude. Also many employees seem rude due to turn over, why waste their time until a new person has been there for several weeks...

I honestly think that if you're not too happy or secure there then you should just try to look somewhere else, but that's just my personal opinion. I use to work at Subway & had a hard time learning how to make each sandwich but I learned that the more you do it the more you learn it. It was easier for me to do that then to actually read the guide. Either way good luck

I would keep it up for the salary. It seems like a lot to memorize, but it's easier as you progress. I understand your starting teaching, but for the time being it sounds like a good job. Hang in there!

Starbucks has great benefits, but if you are a new teacher, you will NOT have any spare time! Maybe just learn and enjoy it until you start teaching. At least you'll know how to make a latte at home! ANd you can stock up on coffee at a discount before you quit.

Come on! stay there, learn as much as you can , training is free!!
don't care about people, anyway they don't pay your bills or care for you , why should you care for them.
It would be a good experience, and who know, someday you can open your own coffee shop or use the experience to prepare killer coffees at parties!

From what I just heard , ( Michael Moore) Starbucks spends more money on health benefits than on coffee beans.
Try to stick with just for that alone.
Just smile and bare with it as long as you can

Look at it as a character building exercise. It's just a couple of months, after all.

Sure, why not, if you have a better paying job in mind, why not.if you are just disturbed with the costumers, it would be better for you and the custumers.
