Our neighbor lets our dogs in and out all day when we're gone. She likes them and we have given her cards signed by the dogs and plants, and things for her garden. And a picture of our dogs, which I think is her favorite gift. - I think this is a very good question by the way.

A gift card for out to dinner or cash. It really depends on how much work she is doing. If she is just letting the dogs out a couple times a day, I would give her around $30-$50, if she is actually watching them, I give her $75-$100. You could also give her a nice gift, but I really recommend cash.

Carol had a cute idea, have the dogs and the plants sign the card. I would give her money, or a gift card to their favorite store, or restaurant, a few bucks per day of babysitting at the minimum.

Money in a pretty card - say 1/3 - 1/2 of what a boarding kennel would charge.
Something meaningful to her - perhaps something pertaining to her hobbies, etc.
Gift certificate for a massage
"Mall Money" a gift certificate that all the stores in the mall will accept (available at the information desk at your mall).

I foy know her interestes, gift cards are ALWAYS a good gift, so one to a store that carries the things she likes, or a "mall money" is good too. Also, one can NEVER go wrong with a hand-written thank you card. It's a lost art...but it sure does make a day espcially w/ some $$ inside...lol! Good luck!

I dog-sat 2 dogs for a week and got a $25 gift certificate to Chipotle's – I thought that was great.

When ever we have our neighbors watch oour pets we usually get them a gift card to a nice restraunt!!

how well do you know her? if she isn't asking for money then give something else. try a potted plant or hanging plant for the front of her house. does she have pets? something for her animals.... or just an offer that you will help her out if ever she needs anything. i think the best thankyou is being a good neighbor
