I'm going to NYC for a little and I'm going to spend a lot of time driving around with some friends...but the thing is that my car is stick and I was just wondering if it's really THAT frustrating to drive it in really heavy traffic constantly.

If you are used to driving a stick, it won't be that big a deal, it will be second nature to shift... it you're not... go rent an automatic. It will cause you nothing but frustration.

I think it's very annoying. I drive a stick; used to commute to downtown Denver (which is not that bad compared to most cities) and any stop and go traffic was annoying mostly because you never get to take your foot of the clutch. Then you never go fast enough to really need 2nd gear, so you run at high rpm the whole time. Of course, that is car dependent.

I think it is, I always get pains in my foot and ankle that feels like it's going to fall off. But fortunately, I don't have to drive in heavy traffic a lot and I much prefer a stick shift so I will not complain about it.

Not at all (for me at least). Shifting to me is an inseparable part of driving; it would be like asking how annoying braking is in city traffic.

its not to bad ,you probably wont ever get out of 3rd gear in the city with it though,it will just make you have to do a lot of shifting ,that's about it,really in the city an automatic is the way to go,but it wont be too bad,its not going to be like normal driving though you will wind up doing a lot of shifting,good luck enjoy the trip.

It's annoying especially if you want to do something else while driving. Like eating or using a cell phone. These are not good ideas but many people do.

Not at all I have a six speed nissan and live in Las Vegas.
Las Vegas Boulevard is just as busy at NYC. Can do it with no problem.

In bumper to bumper traffic during rush hour is when it gets to me. Otherwise I don't mind. It helps to have an awesome car =-D

Yes, because you gotta constantly shift.....Traffic moves slow...so your like...well ok ill put it in 3....then they slow down so you gotta go 2....its annoying
