I was eating my way through a packet of m&m's on the train home yesterday when I became aware of the fact that my hand was automatically puting them in my mouth straight from the packet. They could've been black, white or any other colour. They all taste the same, so why bother colouring them?

Let it be known that if Masterfoods (or whoever the makers of m&m's are) act upon this, I would graciously accept a cheque for saving them millions.

I thought the "Melt in your mouth, not in your hands" slogan came from the Minstrels ad in the 70's / 80's.

Melt in your mouth not in your hand was the original campaign for M and M's i'm afraid. I also and weird and eat them in colours. They also keep my god kids sweet as when we are working on a You do Good you get reward board they get one colour at a time. If they get all the colours then they win and get a larger reward but I could just as easily do this with Smarties or Skittles.

Slow down and enjoy the experience more. If you're just chucking them down maybe you should just eat a plain chocolate bar!

You can purchase M&M's in single colors if you like, and then just shovel them in as well.

M&M's are made in colors for the fun of it. And because they look pretty for a minute or two in a candy dish on your desk enticing all your friends at work to visit you and eat the candy you shouldn't be eating anyway,

On well,

Masterfoods, please don't listen, we like the colors!

M&M's have color to appeal to kids. Same reason they have the commercial's with the talking ones. I like the colors, I think they are pretty...what I don't like is the slogan...Melts in your mouth, not in your hand is BOGUS!!! I cant count how many times I looked down and saw a rainbow of colors in my hand. THAT would be the only reason I would say no colors...altho...even the brown and white ones did it too!!!!

I do. When I was a kid I would line them up by color, pretending that they were soldiers. Then I would eat them as each became a "casualty".
I don't trust the addition of blue ones though. Blue M&Ms just don't fit into the ranks.

I think most people do care that they are colorful. Otherwise why not choose chocolate candy without colors. Kids especially like the different colors and will trade with their friends colors. The m&m candies are also good for playing poker . . . much tastier than playing for matches.

I don't buy them often - because I can't stop eating them when I open the bag!!!

But if I could buy the ones that are all brown/chocolate colored ones - with no other colors included - I would buy them.

If you want black and white M&M's, buy them all at Halloween.

I like them colored. I'm glad they ditched the tan one... that was boring. But the royal blue ones bother me... just unnatural. As unnatural as a candy-coated chocoalte-dipped peanut can be.... :-D

Things always tast better when they look better. Say you went to go to eat a hamburger and it tasted good, but it was all slopped together. I am shure you would not want to eat it.
