When you knock on doors, do you seek to gain a greater understanding of others' faith? Or are you just there to discuss your own beliefs?

And if the latter is true, then why should we open our homes to you if it's just going to be a one-sided conversation?

I've had many discussions with JWs & they always listen to what I think. Have you ever actually spoken to them?

Yes, I willingly engage in any conversation that is based on Bible teachings/ beliefs. I respect everyone's beliefs that I come in contact with. I agree that it can be akward that I come to YOUR door & you were not expecting me & then I proceed to share things in the Bible with you that may contradict anything you believe or have ever heard.
I understand completely.
We are united in our beliefs, teachings & approaches to persons in our communities. We each have a unique personality & that comes through when we go door-to-door.

We are following Jesus' commission to tell others the good news &
feel if you want to preach to us, you should go through the efforts that we have, come find me in the door-to-door ministry, to make it fair.
lol *that is just my personal view, I think it is a good point though...

"IT IS the desire of Jehovah's Witnesses that you become better acquainted with them. Actually, Jehovah's Witnesses are interested in you and your welfare.
They want to be your friends and to tell you more about themselves, their beliefs, their organization, and how they feel about people and the world in which all of us live.

Jehovah's Witnesses believe that all religious teachings should be subjected to this test of agreement with the inspired Scriptures, whether the teaching is offered by them or by someone else. They invite you—urge you—to do this in your discussions with them."

Before becoming a witness, I didn't know what most people believed.

Today I know better than most what most their religions believe.

Why, because I've talked to people from those religions.

As to one sided conversations I can't tell you how patient most witnesses are when it comes to other's trying to "witness" to us at their door.

Jehovah's Witnesses welcome conversations, we try to encourage conversations.

Jehovah's Witnesses pray for conversations.

Please the next time we come to your door talk to us.

We don't bite, we don't argue, we are there to encourage bible discussions and study.

if you were to be a counterfiet money spotter, would you spend years styduying the counterfiets without even knowing what true currency looked like? i would hope you would become expert on the real money and then it would be easy to spot the flaws in the fake money.

we are students and teachers. we are open to answering questions scripturally, but quite often, folks are looking to provoke and argue. that becomes obvious that they aren't interested in god's message. that was fortold. jesus said they would hat you on account of my name. so, it's not the minister that is being turned away. it's the message.

Just as important as being ministers, we are teachers also. A two-way conversation with questions and answers on both sides is what we do. Teachers require, not need, to know what you are thinking.
