In the parable of an Attitude of a Servant (Lk17:10), Jesus tells Christians that what they should say about themselves is "We are unprofitable servants; we have done what we are obliged to do." A Catholic Bishop will refer to himself as an unworthy servant in respect to God.
Jesus also calls Christians His friends. In Jn5:13-15, Jesus says that He no longer calls Christians His slaves but HIs friends.
What Christian doesn't know the Lord's Prayer (Mt 6:9) where Jesus not only allows but commands Christians to pray, "OUR Father," telling Christians that they are God's children.
Please tell me your stories of being not only an unworthy servant or friend but also a child of God. Please tell specific stories where you know that God has interacted with you in your life.
Thank you. I will read all answers.
Yours in Christ Jesus, Grace

That's actually asking for a lot of information!
I suppose that there is an attitude that I was able to carry through my service to God. I do things without thinking about the rewards I am to recieve; Thinking, " I really don't wnat to know right now what the rewards are for this." I think that this is healthy because my sin can take hold of that and turn it into an expectation. I think that this principle is: Not letting the left hand know what the right hand is doing. I think that's the view of an unprofitable servant. There is no expectation of anything in return for the service of what God has me do.
The part of being a son of God, or child of God to me is about the inheritance that I belong to or will inherit as I am a child of God. I have a family now. It's an eternal family and there are parts to that which comes as I continue delighting myself in the Lord, He gives me the desire of my heart.
Being God's friend comes by faith, and the continued application thereof. Like when I talk to Him, and I already know that he listened to what I said last time I talked to Him and there He is again, listening to me. Just like a friend who is there when you need him, and cares about what I care about.
So though these things might appear separate, they are just a part of my life that I experience. they sort of mesh together and are not necessarily so separate or dividable. I suppose that I could just say that it's like this without really depending upon the ability to define each one as separate.

You need to delve in to the original text as well as what slavery was like back in that day.
Did you ever see the movie Ben Hur? Judah Ben Hur loved his slave, and thought him more of a friend than a slave. According to the Torah, a slave was only to be such for six years, and on the seventh he was to be given his freedom. However, if the slave loves his master and does not wish to leave, he becomes what is called a "bondslave" (doulos in Greek) signified by a pierced ear. He would now be a bondslave to his master forever. (Exodus 21:6)
Paul often called himself a "bondslave" to Christ. So the answer is "no", I am not a slave to God. I am a bondslave. I love my Master, and am His to use as He pleases forever.

Well I don't know if there is a difference but i think we are servants to God. I'm a christian but i think that we should worship the Lord and nothing but the Lord. We are supposed to LIVE for him because he DIED for us. So i guess so our lives should revolve around him.

I'm not sure what you're trying to say, but here it goes:
I do not consider Christians to be slaves to God.
Being a Christian isn't something that is forced on you. You accept Jesus into your heart. He doesn't force you to.
It's true, we do serve him, but it is something we willingly do. Or should.
One of the hymns we sing in church says that He is our friend and our brother, even though He is a King.
Doesn't that speak to you? It does me. He is the King of everything, but he wants to be my friend. Your friend. :)
We are so blessed.

i did no longer click the link. i'm no longer likely to get into "homosexuality is a sin and if it relatively is a important sin or no longer". You do understand there are various sins interior the bible and that gay habit is only certainly one of them? flow look interior the bible there is greater effective than only gay habit it relatively is viewed a sin. the unhappy element is yea, there is alot it relatively is viewed a sin. I say unhappy through fact it rather is stressful artwork (for anybody: be they directly/gay/bi) to avert sinning with the intention to stroll in a deep and authentic courting with God.

The Catholic religion is a joke. Bunch of folks crowded in a boring service eating crackers and drinking wine.
