You do not know what is God Shiva . Had you tried to understand him first ? Had you read about this god ?
If not then just by seeing how can you come to a conclusion ?
I will not vote against your question because I like to give answers to people like you who being a Hindu especially do not know their own gods.
Just by your thinking that he should not be considered god will not stop people worshipping him.
Humans are eating non veg. If you are so concerned about animals then stop eating non veg if you are a non veg person.
Hinduism is a symbolic religion. There is meaning to the gestures, apperance of the gods/goddesses .
A person like you will only go on criticising without information and persons like myself will give a good answers to questions.
God Shiva has snake on his neck which signify that he can handle deadly persons like snake.
During Amrit manthan God Shiva drank heavily toxinated poison so that no one dies. All the gods prayed to God Shiva to do something about the poison coming from the amrut manthan. Can you do this ?
Persons like you can only point out in the others .
Asectic persons wear the tiger clothes. No one can be naked.
One who had renounced the wordly ornaments etc .
As far as chopping is considered then that elephant was given moksha by God Shiva.
The head of the God Ganesha was in the bad form after being chopped. So God Shiva said to his ganas that go in the direction Iam saying and whoever you see first then chop the head.
Today is someone's hand is stuck in the machine or is in the pieces in the accident then what do the doctors do ?
They attach the artificial hand or leg. This is the matter of head.
So you badly need to read about God Shiva rather then just pointing about the Gods/Goddess.

shravanjps this is for you.
Shri Vishnu in Vishnu Purana addressed Maharishi Narada that whoever make difference between hari (Vishnu) and har(Shiv) is neither a vaishnav nor a shaiv, but a sinner. Shiva is one of the five primary forms of the Divine in Smartism, a denomination of Hinduism that puts particular emphasis on five deities, the other four being Vishnu, Devi, Ganesha, and Surya
Lord shiva never killed any elephant but lord Brahma did that and that was to save the world from destruction by the hands of Parvati ma. And tiger skin was of a demon that lord Shiva killed. Rest you have to find yourself to know the reality. You can read Shiv Puran and Ling Puran.

No, son.Every act shiva does has a deep meaning. He is actually a lord. The fact that he hangs snakes around him justifies the god's love towards all creatures around us, even if they hurt us or do good to us.He killed Ganesha because he had ego that his face was very beautiful. He put the elephant on his head to show that nobody, even the son of a lord should have ego.He sits on the tiger skin to show what is the origin of human life.We didn't wear clothes when we originated. We use to wear skins of animals in the past. But then, ego in our minds developed and we started to wear only silk clothes. But Shiva isn't like that.He is the simplest man in this world without even a trace of ego.Think before you enter questions like this to internet and mislead people.

Shiva is one of the many personal forms of God.
He is higly symbolic. How
Ashes he baths indicate death is certain for those who are born hence try to make the quest for eternal.
Tiger skin as dress jus indicate for vital things to make the quest success they are Focus, Speed, Accuracy and Strategy. Jus like a tiger we need to follow the trail which leads us to find the Kingdom of God.
Snake garland. It is symbolic too, which is to remind us desire if in proper direction can lead us to victorious Garlands.
Dont stop or get stubled by what we see or hear best is to investigate deeply and get the inner meaning.
Each diety has its own stand for symbolic understanding. But most of the time misunderstood by shallow thinker.
Shallow thinker are those who are on the beach contented with the shells. Only deep thinkers can get to the bottom of ocean and get the rare pearls.

Your reaction and perception of Shiva reminds of the way Parvati's mom reacted when she saw Shiva and his entourage when HE came to marry Parvati.
but this is his just his form as a destroyer amongst the trimoortis. And what you haev described are nothing but symbolic representations for what Shiva actually stands and is revered.
Snakes as Garlands tell that he is the champion of animal rights, even a snake which is venemous and believed to bring death has been given a position of respect by Shiva thereby emphasising its inportance in teh ecosystem.
Chopping the head of the elephant to revive Ganesha was done by Vishnu and not by Shiva. And Shiva having suggested to bring the head of the first creature seen to revive ganesha tells us that he knew the importance of animals and their beneficial influence on humans and divine alike.
Clothes of skin tells us his promordial instincts and do not indicate his advocating animal killings.
the intoxicated state he is shown in is his intoxication gained with the bliss of being in sync with the supreme being, which He himself is a part of. and this has been miscontrued as his being addicted to intoxicants which is not true.
Know him for what HE is and you shall love him just like Parvati.

shiva is not your contemporary. he lived long years back in the minds of people. yours and my ancestors once lived, not only killing animals, but also killing other human beings. probably, shiva's story may be relating to equalent of that age. all these things, whether relating to shiva or any other religion, not to be anti-propagated though the facts are unbelievable many times. the very fact of a person having belief in such things mean, he respects society. that also gives meaning of his respecting members of society. having been like this, they can be considered as better people than the one who does not care for the society and for the rules of society. a faith in religion or god is a matter of one trying to gain self seeking. that is not a bad idea!

Do you think all this stuff you think is real . All the things you have said are just imaginations of a mystic poet . All these forms given to the hindu gods are to describe a certain aspect of the formless almighty . Shiva 's form depicts death and destruction that's why it is like that . You need not worry about those stories they did not happen you have to take the hidden meaning of these puranic stories , please dont take it literally. You can give any form you desire or worship him as formless He remains uneffected

In this universe 'The Almighty' has fixed certain duties and responsibilities to certain Gods /Shakties. Lord Shiva is one of them. He destroys according to his duty. And all those snakes, tiger etc., are imaginary things of mankind. Only thing is, in olden days, in order to have better understanding to primitive mankind, some body has created all this and told them about God in a magnifying manner. Now man has become clever and he does not need stories. So try to understand the basic thing and follow.

Please think about this. Are we human beings? Do we believe in God?In that case why do we kill animals and eat them?Dont they have life, families and sentiments. Are they not creation of God? Who authorised you to destroy God's creations. Also for the sake of spreading one religion which has no practcal proofs of God or etc why do we kill other humans created by God.
None of us know how God looks and how he lives. These are all human beliefs. The basic belief of hindus is there is a creator (Brahma) A sustainer (Vishnu) and a Destroyer(SHIVA).So every one imagines God in different forms and shapes.Hindus see God in all creatures. So the worship of nature and all living things.
Who are we to question actions of some Gods when we are not sure ourselves about any thing about God.
People get angry if their beliefs are questioned.Have you forgotten the cartoon issue in western papers.
