What would be the best way to add an auxilary input into my 2002 ford explorer so that I can use my Zune mp3 player without using an fm-tuner

I would recommend just replacing your stock stereo with an aftermarket unit. You can get a car stereo with an aux input that'll also play MP3/WMA files for under $100 these days. Order from crutchfield.com and they'll include the mounting kit and adapter cable along with instructions, it's not a difficult swap at all.

There is no other way unless the HU has an external CD player connection and even then it may not be possible.

It's not wireless so there's no chance for interference. Not to be confused with an FM transmitter. It basically adds an AUX port to ANY radio.

It feeds your audio signal from a headphone jack ( or RCA cables) by FM modulation, directly into the antenna input on your radio bypassing the antenna when on, allowing the radio to work as normal when off.

This IS the answer. Totally versatile.
