Theres so much hype about protecting our skins from the sun, but have you ever really thought about what sunscreen contains in it, and that its ingredients could actually be making risk of allergies and cancer greater?
I've been signed up with the EWG (Environmental Working Groups) for a few months, and have just received an article on sunscreens. They have studied 783 different sunscreens of factor 15+...and only 18 are safe and effective
Take a look for yourself...

Yes they say you should stay out of the sun between 12 and 4pm. And no question, I just want to know what people think...and whether they are considering switching products after reading?

Hmm there's always that possiblity, but there's risk in everything. The site seems pretty legit. to me. And in the overall study of cosmetics they don't 'recommend', you have to search for the products.

These days with all the false info on the environment, it makes me wonder if this EWG is getting paid to recommend certain brands.

You know what, if we paid attention to every single study done you would find that "everything" causes cancer it seems! Several years ago there was a study done saying that eating too many hot dogs could cause cancer. Oh Please. Anyway... bottom line, limit sun exposure the sun is worst between 10am and 4pm, if your shadow is shorter than you, get in the shade. Use a sunblock if you must be in the sunlight and just live life!
**I just went to the article and view the list. Personally? My opinion only here.... that website is just another "cause" they even have a donate button very visible on the left of the page. So no, it hasnt changed my opinion on sunscreen at all. They didnt test the one I use, and most of what they did test I never heard of! One of the products listed my mother used on me my whole life and guess what? No cancer here! So my answer here is.... just use something because its going to be better for you than nothing at all.

Although there are some things that are healthy about the sun (vitamin D) you can actually get that from other sources so you don't have to be in the sun. The sun is damaging. Sunscreens don't work all that well. Sunblock is the way to go. Melanoma can kill you. Trust me, the sun is overrated!

I tell you what-you stop using it for a few years and see what the effects are.As for me I would rather take my chances with the sunscreen than get skin cancer or suffer from premature ageing anytime.

I live in Florida and wish we had the knowledge about sunscreens when I was young, my skin would definately be in better condition, and my grandfather may not have had all the skin cancer that he did

Alot of people do not realise that chemicals which the body cannot remove (blood does not recoginise the particle) then it will stay in your body, as the bodys blood cant get rid of it.
That must include: absorbtion through the skin of anything potentially dodgey, and absorbtion of it through the gut or breathing.
Includes: PERFUME, ADDITIVES etc...
Just avoid overexposure, protect your eyes with polaroids. ..
