how can i tell if my parents smoke?

You can't tell if they smoke? If you are talking about cigarettes then run up and give them a hug after you think they've been smoking. Then they will usually smell like strong smoke. If they smell like not-so-strong smoke then maybe they were hanging out at a bar where someone was smoking.

Besides smelling smoke on their clothing, car, hair, breath, etc., there are some other telltale signs like the yellowing of teeth, dirt on the fingers that hold the cigarette/cigar/etc. or bloodshot eyes. I have noticed that my friends who smoke also tend to have a problem in which their smell and taste senses are dulled. One friend did not even notice I had perfume on because she couldn't smell it. Also, if for some reason your parents feel the need to "walk outside" during dinner or spend an extra minute inside their car when they get home from work, odds are they could be smoking.

normally the smell itself should be quite obvious. if they are heavy smokers and have been smoking for a while you can probably notice they have stained gums or teeth. if they only smoke socially, though, it is hard to tell unless you were to actually find a lighter or a packet of cigarettes around the house

I am assuming they don't smoke in front of you, but usually if you are a non smoker, you can smell the cigarette smoke on them.
Frankly tho, they are your parents and it really isn't any of your business what they choose to do on their own.

You would definately smell smoke on them. I am sure you know what it smells like and why can't you just outright ask them if they do or used to. Make it a conversation. If they said they did before ask since what age, for how many years etc.

u can see or look 4 cigarats in there house when u walk bye them u shold smell smoke
