I've been with D for almost 3 years. While we've had our differences we've always resolved them and we are very much in love.
He and his family are rich conservative all american white collar people. He is very sheltered and conservative as well. I dress gothic/emo, I have piercings and tattoos, etc. and I was in the foster system.
Despite how different we are, we love each other more than life itself; we know we're the ones for each other.
His family has been supportive of me but always weary... until they got into my livejournal (now deleted) and saw the communities, music, movies I was into. It scared them.
I explained to them the best I could. His mom hates me and thinks I'm a horrible person and a horrible influence and that I should never see her son again. His dad respects his wishes, but is skeptical. His stepmom is weary.
D stood up for me and his mom pretty much disowned him. What should we do?
How can I earn their trust back?

This seems like a very difficult situation, and im sorry you have to go through this just because your not like your boyfriend. My advice would to be, whenever your with his parents, be very respectful and polite. Help out whenever help is needed. Show his parents your personality is just different, theres nothing to be scared of. good luck!

Even though his family hates you show them respect no matter what. A way to a mans heart especially if hes family oriented is always through his family. If your boyfriend loves you unconditionally then it shouldn't really matter what his parents think you know. As long as its not influencing his feelings for you then everything is okay. If it gets to that point where he actually thinks twice then I say its not worth it. Don't change your demeanor for anyone he met you that way and fell in love with it so who cares what other people think, opposites always attract. I'm sure you're adults and can make your own decisions about your personal life after all you're dating him not his parents. And if he %100 backs up his parents he never really cared like he said he did. Just my opinion because I'm tired of these men that can't think on there own. I'm not saying he should disown his family or anything but stand your ground put your foot down. I think if it's real love it'll surpass any drama anyone wants to cause. I hope my opinion was helpful. :)

Take it from someone who has in law problems herself because of the color of her skin and the way she was raised the mom sounds like she is set in her ways and it sounds like it will take something huge to bring her around. as far as the rest let them know that though you are interested in theses things it doesnt define who you are. remember the old saying never judge a book by its cover! if you and this guy are totally in love ask him how he feels about the wya his mom has reacted and move on from there. The point of the whole matter is what makes you and your guy happy. the rest is just details.

If you get married and have children, chances are pretty good that mom will come around because she'll want to have a relationship with her grandchildren. If she doesn't then I say good riddance!

rather? i think of it takes too plenty explanation to truly take excitement in it. it rather is an anachronism. i do no longer even think of it rather is romantic. what's romantic approximately suicide? besides the tragedy is only used to awaken a feeling of the uselessness of interfamily quarrels, and to make an allure against that. yet to take excitement in even that plenty demands plenty explanation, which you're exhausted with the aid of the time you even get the gist of it. possibly it relatively is a robust use of language, in spite of if it rather is previous its time.
