First I try to ignore them, if that doesn't work I tell them to go away, if that doesn't work I ask the parents to keep them away, and if that doesn't work I would ask the manager to do something about it. Never had it get that far, but I have had to address the parents at times -really rude and inattentive of them because by that time it should be clear I'm not charmed by their kids and they really should've stopped their children of their own accord rather than waiting for me to request it!

If you stare at the kids, then look at the parents with raised eyebrows...and they still don't react, then step in to help.
You might want to be a little assertive and walk over to say, Hi, how is this crowd doing? You sure are having a good time! Pat the child on top of the head, that will immediately quiet them down. Even wild kids are shy of strangers.
At this point, the parents will automatically ask if they are making too much noise. You can just respond, "Oh gosh, they're just kids having fun. They don't care about being romantic in a restaurant, that's for old people".
This lighthearted attitude suggests that you were enjoying a romantic time and that they are interfering. They should immmediately react positively.
If they react negatively, you should consider leaving. That kind of behavior is not interested or considerate of your feelings.
It's just like HBO, some people just don't get it!

I've had this happen to me at the movies. This two year old kept pulling my hair. And there were like two other little kids and they would walk up and down the aisle and the parents allowed this to happen, which was mind boggling. It was pretty obvious they needed to control their kids. I mean, you'd have to be brain dead to not know what is happening here. My friend was pissed off and gave them an angry look. It stopped but they were still noisy. In the end, we just decided to move to an different seat.
If I had kids, I would never ever allow them to act that way. It's awful how some parents do not discipline their children.

Depends on what you mean by 'bugging you'. If the kids are approaching you, throwing food at you, or in anyway directly engaging you, say something to the child like, "Please, sit down by your parents." Then say politely say something to the parents about their children's behavior, it wouldn't hurt to have the manager there too. If the kids are just being annoying(screaming, etc), there isn't much you can do except ask to be moved to a different table because of the disruptive behavior.

If you are dining at McDonald's, Burger King or any other fast food place, although the parents should be watching their children, children are more common in these places.
If you are dining at any other place, hopefully the parents are closeby. I would let the waiter/waitress know that you are trying to enjoy your meal with no interruptions and the child is disrupting you. They can than talk to the parents. Never did understand a parent that let their child run around in public.

Your there for a pleasurable "Dinning Experience".
1. Politely ask the server to speak to a Manager.
2. Explain the situation and ask him or her to address it.
3. If the Manager fails to deal with the situation...leave
and call the Cooperate office or Owner.
Addressing the child or their parents only invites an altercation. The server doesn't always have the skills to deal with the problem and is afraid of losing their tips.
The Manager is the only one who can effectively Deal with the situation and if it doesn't happen...eat somewhere else where they care about you and your money
30+ years experience dealing with the very situation

I even have observed this at multiple categories of eating places and rapid nutrition eating places around the U.S. My concept is they do no longer dine out plenty........and while they do the adults desire one style of nutrition and the youngsters desire yet another style of nutrition that's no longer presented on the eating place menu the place the dad and mom desperate to consume at. So the parent without postpone drives with the aid of apersistent with the aid of window and the toddlers order their popular. greater eating places could have a constrained toddler's menu with toddler beautiful stuff, at a smart value, then this does not happen. a million. Cheeseburger 2. Macaroni and Cheese 3. warm canines 4. hen or hen Nuggets. once I ate Oriental nutrition........I ordered my son meat basically egg rolls.........I advised him they have been chinese language Burritos...we consistently went to an analogous Oriental eating places so the waitress's knew what he needed while he ordered his chinese language Burrito. maximum eating places won't whinge as they desire the better greenback they make off of the dad and mom.

I love kids, so I'd probably say hi and stuff. But if they get too annoying I'd tell them to go back to their mommy and daddy and if they acted up even more I'd tell the parents to please control their kids. If they wouldn't I'd talk to the person in charge of the restaurant.

You can try to ignore them. Or talk to the waitress to waiter and complain, they will talk to the parents. They can even be thrown out of the restaurant. You have the right to enjoy your dinner.
