Mainly because burns can be more serious than they first appear. This can lead to complications such as infection, which can spread through the bloodstream and truly create a health crisis. Also because the doctor can treat the pain and take steps to minimize the severity of the burn and related complications. You should also be aware that burns often continue burning under the skin for quite some time after the intial contact with heat.

any second or third degree burn is a pathway for infection. And scarring from the burning can lead to loss of mobility in the joint.
That is why it is important to be treated by a medical professional.
